This painting is from Lindy Chambers' 2023 series "Animal Love." Born in Tennessee, Lindy Chambers, an identical twin, spent her youth drawing and riding horses with her twin sister LeeLee Brazeal before moving to Texas in 1972. Lindy has loved animals forever, and her favorite paintings and drawings are of animals. However, she has avoided painting horses until now because she knows horses so well. Lindy's new series includes all variety of animals, including horses. Lindy Chambers says: "When I start to paint, the color is intuitive, and the process is spontaneous. I try to listen to the canvas and react to it. I follow the river of the subconscious - it is all about exploration and revelations along the way. My attention is drawn to the relationship of forms - and to unrecognizable shapes that are thought provoking and unworldly." Edmund Blampied was a painter, etcher, lithographer and sculptor. Born in 1886 to a family of three boys in St. Martin, Jersey, Blampied became interested in drawing at an early age. After visiting the studio of John Helier Lander in 1899, Blampied decided to make a career as an artist. In 1903 he went to London to attend Lambeth Art School, where he studied etching under Walter Seymour. In 1905, he joined the Daily Chronicle as an artist. In that year he was awarded a scholarship to Bolt Court School of Photo-engraving and Lithography. In 1912 he left the Chronicle and established his own studio. He earned a living by illustrating novels and short stories. In 1913, he had his first exhibition at the Leicester Gallery in London. The following year he married Marianne Van Abbé. During the 1920's, he became a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers. During the 1920s Blampied became a member of the Royal Society of Painters-Etchers and Engravers and exhibited in London to critical acclaim. He produced a folio of comic drawings in the 1930s which was published in New York in 1934 and another that was published in London in 1936. The Keeper of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum published a mongraph on his work. His London exhibitions were highly successful. Edmund D. Kinzinger was born in 1888, in Pforzhein, Germany. In Munich he studied at the Kirr Schule and the Staatliche Akademie, and pursued graduate studies at the Academie Modern, Paris. Before serving in the German Army, Kinzinger was a master student of Adolph Holzel at the Staatcliche Akademie, Stuttgart; he returned to study under Henrich Waldschmidt after nearly five years of artillery service. Several of Kinzinger’s fellow students in Germany, such as Johannes Itten, would go on to be associated with the Bauhaus school. Coming into contact with all manner of artistic influences in Europe after World War One, Kinzinger’s work may be viewed as a “synthesis” of modernist styles. The influences of Abstract Expressionist, Cubist, and Futurist styles in Kinzinger’s work at this time are symptomatic of his contact with the likes of Hans Hofmann, Pablo Picasso, and Alexander Archipenko.
