Traveled extensively with his family before studying architecture in St Petersburg, with further studies at Ecole des Beaux-Arts and Atelier Redan, Paris. Practiced architecture in Moscow and was co-designer of the Metropole Hotel, in 1898. Moved to London in 1907 and was employed as an architectural perspectivist. After a sponsored visit to Rome and Venice he had a solo exhibit at the Fine Art Society, 1912, 'Watercolours of London and Venice'; followed by a further four shows. He also exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Society of Painter-Etchers..., and Connell & Sons. His etchings were published in London by H C Dickens,1913-24, and a folio of his work 'Architectural watercolors and etchings of William Walcot' was published, in 1919. Elected RE, 1920; FRIBA, 1922; Associate British School at Rome. A foremost architectural draughtsman, he worked from studios in London, Oxford and Rome. Many of her paintings depicted human-made structures and industrial landscapes in a style combining realism, precisionism and abstraction. Often the central subject such as in "Railroad Signal" was the only suggestion of humanity against a backdrop of stark Texas landscape. Of her painting these isolated subjects she said: "I enjoy taking some rather obscure or unimportant subject or theme and making something fine and important out of it . . . It always gives me great pleasure to discover something which has been passed over as being inadequate material". (Trenton 199) Spellman was born in Forney, Texas in 1905. At an early age she moved to Dallas, Texas and studied under Vivian Aunspaugh before attending the College of Industrial Arts (Texas Woman's University). She received a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University and a Masters Degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa City in 1942. Alberto Saucedo (Born 1960) Texas Artist (Sculptor/Painter) 21.5 inches tall Medium: Bronze 2016 "The Enigma of The Egg" Alberto was born in 1960. He was raised in Mexico City. Alberto Saucedo began his career as self-taught artist who demonstrated at a young age a remarkable talent and passion for art that eventually at seventeen years of age led him to formal studies at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and later on enrolled at San Diego City College. There he focused on Commercial Art and Interior Design. It was there, where he evolved his unique personal style. It was also at this time that he discovered the work of Master sculptor Francisco Zuñiga and studied sculpture with him. Sculpture subsequently became a major part of Saucedo’s work, and achieved his first real recognition in his field. Saucedo’s training has included a generous study of art history, where he incorporates his sensuous, spiritual and classical techniques, transforming it into a style that becomes evident in his work. Dedicated 'To my friend Harold James Bailey E.B.' and annotated 'To wish you a glad glow of happiness for Christmas and the New Year'. From the collection of the famous Blampied scholar and collector, Harold J. Bailey, who wrote an article, 'Edmund Blampied: Artist and Philosopher' in the Print Collector's Quarterly 24 (1937). Housed in a 15 1/2 x 21 1/2-inch Whistler style gold wood frame. In the left rear section is a Martello or Conway tower, built as a fortiffiction. A Jersey Round Tower Coastal towers stand all along the coast of the island. The British built 22 round towers, one similar square tower, and eight Martello towers towards the end of the 18th Century and in the early to mid-19th Century, but now only 24 remain, including seven of the Martellos. Vraic is a seaweed found in the Channel Islands. The main use of vraic is for spreading over potato fields during the winter. It is then ploughed into the soil before the potatoes are planted in late winter and spring. Vraic was traditionally gathered by horse and cart in Grouville Bay and St Ouen's Bay, and in smaller quantities at Le Hocq and Havre des Pas. The practice continues using...
