Stunning and sumptuous is the only way to describe this amazingly beautiful late 1930's rich velvet opera coat.
This beauty is made from a super soft silk velvet blend with a cotton blend lining.
It is slightly cinched in at the waist with ruching at the hip, it has raised ruched shoulders and shoulder pads, the jacket fastens with two large velvet covered buttons at the waist and it is collarless.
Late 1930s we can see elements of the 1940s style coming into play with the more fitted waist and large shoulders.
It is rich and decadent, very well made by DH Evans, it still retains its original label and has a label which reads This material, treated by special patented process will not crush with reasonable wear.
