Ekblom received his formal artistic training at the Stockholm Art School (Konstfack). There, he mastered classical composition and refined his work across multiple mediums, working predominantly in watercolors, gouache, and oil paints. In 1925, Ekblom accepted a position as an illustrator and cartoonist at the Swedish Museum of Natural History (Naturhistoriska riksmuseet) in Stockholm.
