"My work challenges the boundary between control and uncertainty. The grounding I feel through my work is an expression of the space that exists between these two phenomena. I mix my color and pour my paint, unsure of the outcome. I pick up the panel and start to dance with the movement of the paint as it slides from one side to the next. As the layers of color accumulate on each painting, the opportunity to manipulate the space between control and uncertainty diminishes. A sense of urgency arises, which is expressed in the textured movement of color. Paradoxically, as the process unfolds, my desire to control dissipates, and I am left with the ambiguous feeling of uncertainty. This cycle is repeated endlessly, incessantly, as if my will alone could leave its imprint. Whereas in the past this ambiguity would disturb me, I now find the process reassuring. It is clear that, despite my best intentions, each piece will choose its own path."
Kristina Quinones was born and raised in Connecticut. Received her bachelor's degree in Printmaking from the University of Connecticut in 2001 then moved to California. This is an original sill life interior painting of fruit (apples) with a geometric fractured composition. The artist made the painting one section at a time. When working on one section, the artist would block off the rest of the composition so the objects and background needed to be placed again. By building the composition this way, the background and table appear at different levels and the shapes don't quite align. These imperfections convey a sense of passing time. In each section, the tone of the light changes, and the shadows switch directions. The apples and geometric shapes were chosen as much for metaphorical value as for aesthetics. A seemingly simple arrangement in a familiar painting genre contains a depth of observation, artistic choices, and interpretation.
This painting is signed and dated on the back. Includes all hanging hardware and ready to install; no need for additional framing.

Bunnie Reiss was raised with the wide blue skies of Colorado, and often describes her childhood as similar to the song ‘Little Fluffy Clouds’ by The Orb. She has a large Polish/Russian family, so eating, loud talking and community shaped her world. She was a tiny rebel with a large imagination, and knew at a young age that she would build things much bigger than herselfShe moved to rural Colorado, studied literature, and worked for NPR and other various publications, while quietly painting on the side. Magic, mysticism, nature and the stars slowly crept into her conscious, and she began almost obsessively studying anything she could get her hands on. Her need to travel and obtain information slowly pushed her all over the world and she eventually left Colorado to relocate to San Francisco. Her 20+ years in The Bay Area included an MFA from San Francisco Arts Institute and years of creative incubation in wild streets full of weird art and people painting everywhere. She grew into herself, and found a community of artists that she would spend many years building, living and creating things together.
After a small stint in France and a few other areas around the US, Bunnie relocated to Los Angeles. Her busy life blossomed even more, taking her murals and art all over the world. Her time in Los Angeles was crucial to her development as a professional artist, but she began yearning for a more quiet life with space to grow. She eventually purchased her dream home in the Mojave desert, and has been slowly building up a 5-acre art farm affectionately known as Lilac Lane Farms. Her painting studio, animals, vegetable/flower garden and balance of life and art have helped her to imagine a world she never knew could be possible.
Bunnie has shown extensively in both the United States and around the world, in galleries, alternative spaces, bookstores, abandoned buildings, fields and forests, or any place that seems to need a little extra magic. Her brightly colored folk murals...
