The lady, painted circa 1670, gestures with her hand towards the gardens and land beyond off her country estate, wearing a sumptuous ivory silk gown adorned with pearls and precious stones and pearl earrings and necklace, signaling her wealth and status. Hispanic born in the heavy beating heart of Los Angeles on the seventh day of June 1996. Pelayo was caught in the crossfires of everything that surrounded him but art served as his only guidance. After dropping out of college Pelayo turned from his hyperrealistic pencil portraits to oil painting where his passions grew more immensely.
As of today Pelayo’s work is most influenced and fueled by the crème de la crème of old master painters like Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, and Velazquez as well as graffiti artists such as RETNA, Shepard Fairey, and EL MAC. In 2017 his work caught the attention and landed in the firm grasp of renown rapper and collector Alvin “Westside Gunn” Worthy. He has created several album covers and artworks for the Buffalo rap moguls music label Griselda Records including his personal collection. Biography: Deiker Carl Friedrich was born on April 3, 1836 in Wetzlar. He was a Prussian animal painter. Deiker was specialised in animal genres related to hunting and wildlife. He also illustrated magazines and books on hunting.
Carl Friedrich Deiker was the son of Friedrich Deiker, a painter and drawing teacher at the high school. His older brother, Johannes Deiker, with whom he learned to draw after their father’s death in 1843, was a painter specialising in hunting scenes.
Deiker attended the Hanau drawing Academy, where he was a pupil of the director Theodor Pélissier (1794-1863), and then studied at Johann Wilhelm Schirmer’s studio in Carlsruhe.

The painting represents the moment of the death of Lucretia, a Roman noblewoman who was raped by the seventh and last King of Rome-the Etruscan Tarquin the Proud-and committed suicide-in front of her husband and her father-because she couldn’t stand the violence she passed through. According to the legend, this episode caused the rebellion that overthrew the Roman monarchy and led to the transition of Roman government from a kingdom to a republic.
The scene is entirely dominated by the figure of the lady, emerging from a dark background in contrast with the brightness of her skin and of the colors of her dress. The torments and agony are intensively expressed by her glance, capable of creating a strong empathizing. The shiny white skin and the pearls (symbol of virginity) in her hair are an allegory of her purity, while the red tablecloth seems predicting the violent end. The painting is characterized by lots of exquisite details (like the richly decorated knob of the knife, the ribbon that tie up the purple curtains...
