Mixed media on plywood, signed on back.

By Red Grooms

Located in Lyons, CO

Color 3-D lithograph in Plexiglas box, Ed. 45. Grooms, who has devoted much of his distinguished career to portraying his New York City home, turns his eye to New York’s harbor and its hardworking tugboats in this three-dimensional lithograph. This tug, the ”Lysiane”, steams through rolling waves…with smoke billowing from the smokestack. Sailing past a buoy with a seagull perched on top….the deck hand prepares to throw a lifesaver to a man overboard. Hidden in the waters are a green suited man with concrete...

Kartick Chandra Pyne Untitled Watercolour on Paper 30 x 22.5 inches Untitled Watercolour on Paper 30 x 20 inches (Set of Two) Inclusive of shipment in roll form. Style : After graduating from the Government College of Art and Crafts, Calcutta in 1955 Pyne began to move away from the tenets of both classical Indian and Western art to respond to the beckoning of his own artistic impulses. Landscapes fascinated him initially. But along with the world of nature and flora emerged his own reconstructed images of fauna that often signified as metaphors of human passion and energy, and his paean to the elemental magic of women. This transition may have risen from his penchant for human psychology and observing the intricacies of human behavior. In the case of Pyne too, his artistic vision does not adhere to logic because he does not see with his eyes but rather through his subconscious mind -- in an act of surrender to the liberty of his dreamy vision -- with little control over the wanton caprice of his depictions. So, in this distinctive vein, he is perhaps the most seminal surrealist of the contemporary Indian art. About the Artist and his work : Born : 1937 in Calcutta, West Bengal. Kostacis with his hummingbirds. Figurative popular scene in Renaissance atmosphere. Acrylic on canvas. Dimensions in centimeters 81 x 100 x 2 cm. Framed 105 x 124 x 5 cm. Dimensions In inches: 31.89 x 39.37 x 0.79 " . Framed 41.34 x 48.82 x 1.97 " Kostacis with his hummingbirds. Figurative Popular scene in Renaissance atmosphere. Acrylic on canvas. Outside scene where a group of people seem to experience extraordinary sensations surrounded by hummingbirds. In an urban environment with a Renaissance flair, the characters, dressed in original clothes of plural inspiration, seem to react ecstatically by the effects of the hummingbirds, which Kostacis seems to have under control with his wealthy and wise aura. The studied composition, the chromatic harmony, and the subtlety of the design of all the elements that make up the scene, give this painting a classic beauty. The author adds to all this his own brushstrokes of fine humor that wrap the whole theme in a casual irony, the same which surrounds all the stories that Igor Fomin...

'Fish Totem' original signed stone Shona sculpture by Obert Mukumbi

By Obert Mukumbi

Located in Milwaukee, WI

'Fish Totem' is an original springstone sculpture by the Zimbabwean artist Obert Mukumbi. The sculpture presents an interactive and playful combination of subjects, both of which are beloved themes in the Shona tradition. As one faces the sculpture, they are presented at first with a pair of figures: an adult and child, one towering above the other. Surrounding them like a shawl is a mandorla-form, which emphasizes their tall upward posture and movement. This pair of figures emphasizes close relationships and family ties. As one walks around the sculpture, however, the almond shape transforms into the body of a boldly striped fish. This duality of human and animal brings mysticism and transformation to the sculpture and suggests the power and vitality of nature in sustenance and spirit. springstone signed "Obert Mukumbi" along bottom edge 34.5 x 7 x 12 inches concrete base included at buyer request hole drilled into bottom to accommodate steel support rod Overall excellent condition with no signs of wear or damage. Obert Mukumbi was born on February 11, 1974 in the village of Dengu in Bindura, some 86 kilometers north east of Harare, Zimbabwe, where he likewise completed his O-levels in school. During his education, he was interested in wood craft. By age twelve, however, he began working in stone under the guidance and encouragement of his brother Kennedy Musekiwa...

'Meditation' original Shona stone sculpture signed by Dudzai Mushawepwere

By Dudzai Mushawepwere

Located in Milwaukee, WI

'Meditation' original opal serpentine sculpture signed by Zimbabwean artist Dudzai Mushawepwere. The sculpture uses abstraction in the human figure to capture an abstract state of mind: the sculpture presents the form of a woman, her hips wide and arms long. Her arms reach over and hold her circular head, which floats neckless above the torso like a nearly-setting sun. The figure thusly separates their mind and thoughts from their bodily and earthly concerns and instead connects themselves to the heavens. The image reminds of the dancer drawings...
