Early 'Camaleonda' Sectional by Mario Bellini for C&B Italia, c 1971, Signed
By Mario Bellini, B&B Italia
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This monumentally sized modular 'Camaleonda' sectional living room set (fourteen pieces in total) by Mario Bellini for B&B Italia, each section signed with labels as can be seen in the photos. Included in the set are eight (8) full-sized seat sections, each is quite large and spacious which adds to the incredible comfort. And six (6) full-sized seat backs leaving two of the seat sections to be used as ottomans or free-floating seat elements to open the sectional to either side. This set has been previously professionally reupholstered with only light use and in very good condition. Designed by Mario Bellini in 1970 for C&B Italia, later produced after 1973 by B&B Italia after Piero Busnelli bought out Cassina and changed the name to B&B. This set consists of six sections labelled with C&B labels and two sections with B&B labels, meaning that most of this set was produced between 1970 and 1973 - the original production years of the Camaleonda, and making this set ideal for collectors and investors of art and design. *We have a large quantity of other Camaleonda elements (C&B Italia and B&B Italia examples, both in mohair fabric and in leather including some sets ready for reupholstery to a new fabric or leather of your choice) if you are looking for a larger set, contact us to discuss. MEASUREMENTS: *This is a modular set with fourteen (14) total pieces and can be configured in many ways as each seating section can be placed wherever you desire and the seat backs can be fixed to the seating elements where you want. You can configure as one large sectional sofa, three-seat couch with loveseats...

Vladimir Kagan Model #100A Barrel Lounge Chair in Velvet, c. 1973, Signed
By Vladimir Kagan
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This rare collectors piece is the Vladimir Kagan model #100-A 'Barrel Lounge Chair' on ball casters, designed in 1947, signed with Vladimir Kagan Designs label. The gorgeous velvet is in a red color but with a hint of burnt orange tone giving it a beautiful warmth and softness that can benefit any space. Signature curvaceous arms make this Barrel chair easily recognizable by design fans and a go-to choice for top interior designs throughout the world. This incredible collector's piece is a glimpse into Vladi's history. The 100-A Barrel chair was designed in 1947, this particular example was produced in circa 1973 in Kagan's new (at the time) state of the art factory in Long Island, after the Hugo Dreyfuss factory burned down in 1972. Highly sought-after by both collectors and interior designers - signed examples like this one being the most desirable as Kagan's designs were often copied throughout the years. This Barrel club chair by Vladimir Kagan for Vladimir Kagan Designs would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as a side chair, cafe or breakfast table chair, bedside chair...

Exceptionally Unique Set of 'Breteau' Wrought Iron Chairs, c 1955 France, Signed
By Breteau
Located in Los Angeles, CA
An exceptionally unique set of wrought iron chairs stamped 'BRETEAU' with rope corded seats, circa 1955 France. A similar chair sold in 2009 at Christie's, sold as 'Jean Luc Breteau'. This chair was also stamped and hand crafted in the same fashion, only difference with a leather wrapped seat. It sold for well over the estimate given by Christie's, with Buyers Premium and accounting for inflation the single chair cost around $9,000 to the lucky winning bidder. This set, even more special as a rare set of four, allowing the opportunity to use around a cafe or center table. Three of the four chairs are stamped on the upper circular backrest, as can be seen in the photos. Each chair exhibits unique characteristics throughout consistent with hand-crafted and hand-hammered items. Exceptionally unique, and exquisitely refined. These unique Breteau iron chairs would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Original 'Birillo' Barstools Set by Joe Colombo for Zanotta, c. 1971, Signed
By Zanotta, ICF New York, Joe Colombo
Located in Los Angeles, CA
A rare collectors set of five (5) 'Birillo' bar-height barstools designed in 1971 by Joe Colombo for Zanotta, Italy, retailed by ICF New York. Signed underneath with Zanotta embossed logo and design information on each chair and ICF New York retailer labels on some of the chairs. These examples are original early year productions and ideal for collectors and modern art and design investors. These examples feature red vintage patent leatherette upholstery and white fiberglass bases. It's very hard to find a single Birillo stool let alone find a matched set of five bar-height barstools. If you are looking for a large set of modern bar height barstools, don't hesitate because once these are gone it will be a difficult opportunity to replicate. This early Post-Modern quintessential design is often misspelled 'Brillo' and even sometimes 'Brillio' but as seen documented in the 1978 Zanotta catalogue, the correct spelling is 'Birillo'. This set of five Joe Colombo Birillo...

Alan Siegel Post-Modern Craftsman 'Tongue' Chair, Signed & Dated 1981
By Alan Siegel
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This work of Post-Modern functional art is called the 'Tongue' chair by artist and sculptor Alan Siegel, exhibited in 1981 at the Betsy Rosenfield Gallery in Chicago. Signed and dated (1981) by the artist underneath the seat. Carved from Maple and Black Walnut, this gorgeous piece of art is something unique, fun and whimsical, and ideal for art and design collectors and investors. This incredible chair, which in of itself is a sculpture of collectible fine art, was designed as a figural man's head where the backrest is comprised of the hair and eyes along with a sculpted nose, teeth and mustache. The tongue makes the seat and below that for the legs of the chair is the beard and chin. Other Alan Siegel chairs were present in the exhibition such as the 'Smiling Bandit' chair and 'Laughing Bandit' chair which were also carved from Maple and Black Walnut. Ideal for Modern and Post-Modern homes, also consider for Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, Transitional and Mixed-styled rooms. Works great as a side chair, hallway chair, entryway chair, occasional chair, captains chair for a dining table or game table, reading chair or fireside chair, or office desk or guest chair. Barcelona Daybed by Mies Van Der Rohe for Knoll International, 1960s, Signed
By Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Knoll
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This iconic and authentic (both the leather cushion and the Mahogany frame is signed with Knoll International labels) daybed is the 'Barcelona Daybed' also referred to as the 'Barcelona Couch' by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Knoll International and is considered an 'early original production collectors example' as it is from Knoll's earlier years of producing this design in the 1960s and 1970s before they changed to different manufacturing processes during the 1980s. This example is signed with a Knoll International label that has the 320 Park Ave address and is dated on the back of the label July 9, 1975. To determine the estimated production year we note that the date most likely corresponds to the retailer or possibly the Knoll sold/ ship date. The address of 320 Park Ave changed to Fifth Ave in 1970 and Knoll Associates did not become Knoll International until 1968. Therefore we would pinpoint the production year to be between 1968 and 1970. It is possible that it was slightly after 1970 that this example was produced as it is believed that Knoll continued to use labels with the older 320 Park Ave for several months to a couple years after changing addresses, however generally speaking 1970s examples will be labelled with their Fifth Ave address. All construction details also indicate a 1st-Generation 'original' production by Knoll as their production did not change throughout the Knoll Associates years and through the first half of the Knoll International years. This rare original 1st-Generation 'Barcelona Daybed' features its original brown leather upholstery with subtle patina and wear throughout. These traces of age and use bring more vibrancy to the leather, giving this piece an on-trend lightly distressed look. The original bolster pillow in matching brown leather is secured to the cushion and platform via straps and lock snaps. The platform is crafted from stained Mahogany and supported by polished tubular stainless steel legs and the original leather straps are all in-tact. Both the cushion is labelled and the platform frame as well with a partial Knoll International sticker label as can be seen in the photo gallery. Considered to be the epitome of modern design, Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich originally designed the Barcelona chair in 1929 to serve as seating for the king and queen of Spain in the German Pavilion. This was Germany's entry for the International Exhibition, hosted by Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. Designed in 1930 the Barcelona daybed (also referred to as the Barcelona Couch) emanates this seminal design, paralleling the same simplicity and elegance of the iconic Barcelona chair. This Barcelona couch by Mies van der Rohe for Knoll International is ideal for a living room, family room, study, den or lounge. It would also be an Apt choice in a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a retail boutique...

Vladimir Kagan for Directional 'Cloud' Sofa in New Nubby Bouclé, c 1980, Signed
By Vladimir Kagan, Directional
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This spectacular Vladimir Kagan 'Cloud' sofa was produced by Directional Furniture in the 1980s and was just newly reupholstered in a gorgeous nubby bouclé fabric, and is signed underneath with Directional label and has the lucite center support leg. The color of the bouclé is a very light oatmeal color - close to ivory and off-white. In brighter light settings it appears to be white but in darker or regular room settings you can see the slight tan color it possesses. We've searched for years for the best bouclé fabric and this one is quite exquisite, with bigger and softer pile and thicker backing than all the others we have found. *NOTE, the Philip & Kelvin LaVerne 'Chan' cocktail table shown in the photos is not priced in this set however is available for purchase in another listing. In addition, we have a matching ottomans on casters, three 'Corkscrew' swivel club chairs and other configurations of the 'Cloud' sofas, contact with questions and for more details. Kagan, inspired by his early 1950s Kagan-Dreyfuss 'Serpentine' sofa and his later 'Shorty' sofa, designed his popular and classic always-in-demand 'Cloud' sofa for Directional Furniture with all of its sensuous Post-Modern curves and signature lucite bar fitted between two cylindrical bases. This pair of sofas feature the pouf / ottoman on the right side (if you are sitting on the sofas) which allow you to face the sofas towards each other in a Yin / Yang formation. Also both sofas are the style with the more in-demand 'center back' vs the style which has the 'wrap around arm'. This particular style is more rare and desirable so having both sofas with this style is difficult to achieve as they are harder to find. If you need a different configuration contact us as we have other Cloud sofas in stock that are ready to be reupholstered. Collectors and designers, it's hard to find a matching pair together - here's your opportunity, but hurry - this design is hot and sell fast as they are a staple for interior designers looking to create a magazine cover interior. This Vladimir Kagan cloud sofa is so popular today with interior designers and collectors - the demand for Kagan's designs keep growing year after year. There is something timeless about the shape and silhouette of this couch and the comfort level is through the roof. Combine this was the on-trend off-white / oatmeal boucle fabric - and this sofa is a recipe for exquisiteness. This Vladimir Kagan for Directional curved Cloud sofa...

'Mah Jong' Living Room Set by Jean Paul Gaultier for Roche Bobois, Signed
By Roche Bobois, Jean Paul Gaultier, Hans Hopfer
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This large 22-piece living room set designed by Hans Hopfer for Roche Bobois, is called the "Mah Jong" sectional sofa with fabric and leather selections by Jean Paul Gaultier. Signed with Roche Bobois / Jean Paul Gaultier labels and repeat fabric. Included in this set are twenty two (22) pieces in total which include 12 square seat cushions (which also function as large ottomans and can be stacked), 4 straight backs, 2 corner backs, and 4 throw pillows. Unique to this set, which is quite rare, of the twenty two total pieces, two are light blue leather cushions with two light blue leather seat backs. The best part of this set is that you can mix and match the cushions and seat backs to make any style arrangement you wish, and create a customized room which you can change as frequently as your heart desires... you can create small and large sofas, loveseats, lounge chairs and ottomans using the cushions and seat backs. We also have other large Mah Jong sets available which can be combined with this set, if desired. Contact us for more details. Ideal for all kinds of uses... consider this set for a large screening room, den or living room, bedroom seating, entertainment room, commercial uses such as a hotel or boutique lounge, you can even spread the pieces around the house and put some in a large walk-in closet / dressing room, kids room, classroom or training room, and for those limited on space in an apartment - you can stack the cushions and then spread them out when you have company. A great way to make the most of space by keeping versatile with this Roche Bobois Mah Jong seating system. Originally designed in 1971 by Hans Hopfer the 'Mah Jong' seating system is as iconic today as it was then. Here is what Roche Bobois has to say about this design and the designer: Painter, sculptor, designer... Hans Hopfer designed sofas that are, for many, the indisputable “signature” of Roche Bobois’ collections. In the 1970s, Hopfer’s innovative and informal approach to comfort had a profound influence on the way people furnished and arranged their living space. In 1971, he created the Mah Jong, a sofa based on the total freedom of function and form. Starting with three basic elements that can be combined or stacked, the Mah Jong allows limitless options of composition. It can be an armchair, sofa, lounge chair or bed; a space in which to rest, to play or to lounge. It encourages experimentation and breaks the rules of formal living, reflecting the nonconformist era in which it was born. Avant-garde when first created, iconic today, and “dressed” by Missoni Home, Kenzo Takada and Jean Paul Gaultier, this “free form” modular seating is the reference point for fully modular and creative design. This large Mah Jong sectional sofa system by Hans Hopfer for Roche Bobois would work great in a Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Use this set to create sofa sections, settee sections, easy chair sections, ottomans and chaises, even a large daybed or room sized night-bed using...

Monumental Pair of Fiberglass 'Jennifer' Lounge Chairs by Michael Taylor, 1970s
By Michael Taylor
Located in Los Angeles, CA
So many incredible aspects to this pair of monumentally sized 'Jennifer' lounge chairs by Michael Taylor, circa 1970s, we will attempt to list them all in this description. First, and most noticeably, is the size. They are huge, humungous, monumental, enormous... I mean, they are incredibly large. You can easily fit two people and a dog in a single chair and have room to cuddle, snuggle, hang-out, watch a movie, have drinks in an intimate setting, or even fall asleep comfortably cradled. It's not just how wide they are but also the depth also provides a dramatic increase in overall 'lounging' footprint of the chairs. These chairs are so large, they shouldn't even be called chairs, they are somewhere between a loveseat and a daybed - perhaps they should be called lovebeds instead? The second thing that we absolutely love about these chairs is its design history. The Jennifer chair is one of Michael's earliest designs. Michael designed it for actress Jennifer Jones (Mrs. Norton Simon), she asked him for a chair that she could curl her legs in and relax and this monumental chair...

Mario Bellini for Cassina 'Cab 414' Leather Lounge Chair, Signed, circa 1980s
By Cassina, Mario Bellini
Located in Los Angeles, CA
A beautiful black leather Mario Bellini Cab lounge chair, Model #414, signed Cassina, designed in the 1970s. These fine examples of the cab line by Mario Bellini for Cassina are classic staples for luxury interior designers and collectors alike, these lounge variations of the design are larger and deeper than the similar dining armchair, and have the addition of the seat cushion. Signed underneath with Cassina embossing to the leather. Mario Bellini described the 1970s bestselling design for the Cab collection as “This was a new kind of chair, constructed totally out of leather, much cloned since then.” and is now a signature piece in Cassina’s Contemporanei collection. Cab was the first-ever chair to feature a free-standing leather structure, inspired by how our skin fits over our skeleton. The upholstery consists of sixteen pieces of saddle leather. They then undergo fourteen discrete procedures, again by hand. The pieces are sewn together only when their outer edges have been trimmed to ensure a perfect fit. Once assembled, the cover is attached to the chair’s steel skeleton and held in place by means of a zipper fastening as in a bespoke tailored...

Vladimir Kagan 'Rock Star' Pair of Leather Rocking Chairs, c. 1997, Signed
By Vladimir Kagan, American Leather
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This pair of black leather rocking armchairs are by Vladimir Kagan for the Kagan Collection, by American Leather (previously LeatherTech). Designed in circa 1997 and called the 'Rock Star' lounge chair due to its rocking chair abilities cleverly disguised underneath with hidden wooden runners and signature rounded form, the curved arms and integrated seat cushion gives the look of a molded chair. What's a huge upside about these examples are that they have LeatherTech labels underneath instead of the common and newer American Leather labels. In the 1990s the company was originally founded as LeatherTech and brought huge innovations into the furniture and design industry. Later, in the early 2000's they changed their name to American Leather. Earlier examples made prior to the name change such as this pair are sought-after by collectors and generally carry greater worth. With Postmodern soaring in popularity, this club chair is just as relevant today as it was when it was first introduced. An excellent choice for designers and collectors alike, the chair and ottoman are signed underneath with The Kagan collection labels and leather swatch...

Important Pierre Patout Mahogany Dining Chairs from S.S. Île de France, c. 1927
By Pierre Patout
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This set of important Pierre Patout open arm chairs were from the first class dining room on board of the S.S. Île de France, circa 1927. With excellent provenance, this exact set was previously sold at Christie's New York on June 1, 2006 during their Ocean Liner Furnishings and Art auction as Lot 286. As seen in the last photo, they had a hammer price of $12,000 plus buyers premium (usually from 20 to 30% of hammer price) and had an estimate of up to $25,000. Keep in mind that this is in 2006 and the inflation rate since then has been almost 30% in total. One of the chairs still retains the Christie's label as can be seen in the last photo. These Pierre Patout french art deco dining chairs feature an open arm design, flared legs, scalloped Mahogany sections which make up the seat base and seat back. Covered in soft and sumptuous velvet which has a light orange-brown color. Such incredible craftsmanship and quality materials that you just don't find in todays products. This set is priced for the set of 6 chairs, if you wish to purchase only a pair contact us to discuss. Such an amazing set for art and design collectors or interior designers looking for something truly special for best client. These chairs have incredible heft - you can feel the quality at first touch. These chairs are just exquisite - get them while they are still available and before someone else does. ABOUT THE DESIGNER: Pierre Patout (1879-1965), was a close friend and associate of Jacques-Emile Ruhlman, creating designs for the 1925 Exposition of Decorative Arts. Patout designed the main gateway of the Exposition on the Place de la Concorde, and also The Hôtel du Riche Collectionneur, one of the most popular attractions at the Exposition. Inside it displayed new furniture designs of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann, as well as Art Deco fabrics, carpets, and a painting by Jean Dupas. His success at the Exposition led to commissions for transatlantic ocean liners including the Ile de France, L'Atlantique, and, the most famous of all the SS Normandie. The highlight of the Normandie interior was the dining room, illuminated with rows of lighted columns of Lalique crystal. The SS Île de France...
