This beautiful pair of rare 'President' Lounge chairs, Model #265 by Steen Ostergaard for Cado, Denmark (each chair signed with Cado embossed logo on frame), was designed in 1968 and produced at Krauss Maffei, Munich, Germany for a short time in limited quantities. For collectors of 1960s and 1970s Space Age, this is a sought-after and coveted design to have.
Produced in fiberglass reinforced poly-amide nylon and is anti-static, full depth colored, and can not delaminate, and were cast in the largest injection mold in the world at the time. The head / neck rest is adjustable via the two dials on the back and can be raised or lowered to your desired setting. The President Lounge, which was part of the A-Line series, was prominently featured in many books, magazines and movies such as 'Star Trek' where it appears in Captain Kirk's 23rd century San Francisco apartment.

So many incredible aspects to this pair of monumentally sized 'Jennifer' lounge chairs by Michael Taylor, circa 1970s, we will attempt to list them all in this description.
First, and most noticeably, is the size. They are huge, humungous, monumental, enormous... I mean, they are incredibly large. You can easily fit two people and a dog in a single chair and have room to cuddle, snuggle, hang-out, watch a movie, have drinks in an intimate setting, or even fall asleep comfortably cradled. It's not just how wide they are but also the depth also provides a dramatic increase in overall 'lounging' footprint of the chairs. These chairs are so large, they shouldn't even be called chairs, they are somewhere between a loveseat and a daybed - perhaps they should be called lovebeds instead?
The second thing that we absolutely love about these chairs is its design history. The Jennifer chair is one of Michael's earliest designs. Michael designed it for actress Jennifer Jones (Mrs. Norton Simon), she asked him for a chair that she could curl her legs in and relax and this monumental chair...

Mario Bellini described the 1970s bestselling design for the Cab collection as “This was a new kind of chair, constructed totally out of leather, much cloned since then.” and is now a signature piece in Cassina’s Contemporanei collection. Cab was the first-ever chair to feature a free-standing leather structure, inspired by how our skin fits over our skeleton. The upholstery consists of sixteen pieces of saddle leather. They then undergo fourteen discrete procedures, again by hand. The pieces are sewn together only when their outer edges have been trimmed to ensure a perfect fit. This pair of black leather rocking armchairs are by Vladimir Kagan for the Kagan Collection, by American Leather (previously LeatherTech). Designed in circa 1997 and called the 'Rock Star' lounge chair due to its rocking chair abilities cleverly disguised underneath with hidden wooden runners and signature rounded form, the curved arms and integrated seat cushion gives the look of a molded chair.
What's a huge upside about these examples are that they have LeatherTech labels underneath instead of the common and newer American Leather labels. In the 1990s the company was originally founded as LeatherTech and brought huge innovations into the furniture and design industry. Later, in the early 2000's they changed their name to American Leather. Earlier examples made prior to the name change such as this pair are sought-after by collectors and generally carry greater worth.
