Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner 'Concha' Lounge Chairs for Forma, Brazil, c 1960
About the Item
Beautifully reupholstered with soft nubby white bouclé, this pair of 'Concha' chairs by Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner for Forma, Brazil, encapsulates the quality and innovation of their designs. This elegant scoop chair with its slightly reclined back sits atop a sculptural patinated iron base. We intentionally kept the iron bases original with decades of age and patina.
*Priced individually, we have 2 chairs available at the time of this listing. One chair has an iron base that was previously painted in green, with decades of age and patina developed on it. If you are purchasing a single chair please let us know which one you prefer us to ship.
Brazilian Modern has been extremely popular to collectors, partially due to the limited production quantities made at the time, partially due to the exotic styling that Brazilian Modern designers such as Sergio Rodrigues, Jorge Zalszupin, and Joaquim Tenreiro brought forth, and also due to the use of exotic materials such as Jacaranda and Caviuna.
These Concha chairs by Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as side chairs, bedside chairs, fireside chairs, dressing or changing room chairs, hallway chairs, entryway or mudroom chairs, nursing or reading chairs, conference room chairs, office or desk guest chairs, lobby lounge chairs or occasional chairs ideal in virtually any setting.
