"Music and Wine, " Lidded Bronze Bowl w/ Greek & Renaissance Motifs, E F Caldwell
Located in Philadelphia, PA
Made by Edward F. Caldwell & Company of New York, America's most distinguished and lauded maker of fine lighting fixtures and metal decorative pieces in the early 20th century, this lidded bowl of cast and repoussé bronze depicts a series of winemaking scenes on the lid and a frieze of Renaissance angels playing lute and pipes on the bowl below. This piece is rare, and rarer still is the fineness of casting and enameling seen here. The Caldwell company was founded by E. F. Caldwell with Victor von Lossberg in 1895, and before long the company was collaborating with the likes of Stanford White and other prominent architects, supplying lighting and architectural details for a veritable "who's who" of prestigious building projects. Among them: the University Club, Andrew Carnegie...

Large, Decorative Impressionist Wooden Frame, France Around 1880
Located in Hamburg, DE
This large and highly decorative Impressionist frame is made of wood and dates from around 1880 in France. A piece that can be used in a classic way to frame an oil painting or a modern graphic. But the frame can also be used in other ways. Either you make a mirror out of it, or you hang the frame on the wall as it is, as part of a collage.
The gilding is original and of the period. The handmade stucco ornaments show, among other things, fulcrums and acanthus. The wooden frame has a really special and beautiful patina, fitting perfectly to lots of paintings...

Pair of 19th Century French Terracotta Busts of Children Signed E. Guillemin
Located in Dallas, TX
Decorate an office shelf with this cheerful pair of antique terracotta children busts. Crafted in Paris, France circa 1880, each subject features a child face sculpture standing on a black painted socle base. Each figure has wonderful facial expressions and nice details. Both artworks are signed on the back E. Guillemin with marks reading "Quai Jemmapes 6". The busts are in excellent condition with the original terracotta patinated finish.
Émile Coriolan Hippolyte Guillemin (1841-1907) was a French sculptor of the Belle Époque. He worked mainly in bronze and also made artwork subjects in terracotta. He studied under his father, the painter Auguste Guillemin, and under Jean-Jules Salmson. He showed work at the Salon of Paris from 1870-1899, and in 1897 received an honorable mention there. His sculptures incorporated themes inspired by the French revolution, Mediterranean mythology, and orientalist aesthetics. His oeuvre is reminiscent of other mid-18th century European bronze sculptors, including Jef Lambeaux, Marcel...

He was a pupil of Duret, gained the Prix de Rome in 1864 (spending 1864-67 at the Villa Medici in Rome) and the medal of honor in 1878. Other works by him are "Music - La Musique" (1878, Paris Opera House), called his masterpiece; "Eve After the Fall" (1869); "Maternal Instruction" (1875, Square of Sainte-Clothilde, Paris). He is also noted for his decorations in relief on vases of Haviland faience. His best work is naturalistic, but at the same time dignified and simple in line and shows sound mastery of technique.
