A fine and impressive antique George III English sterling silver sweetmeat basket; part of our Georgian silverware collection. This antique Georgian sterling silver sweetmeat basket has an oval navette form onto a collet foot. The body of this sterling silver basket is embellished with a band of pierced decorated vertical pales accented with four foliate motifs. The basket is further ornamented with two bands of pierced evolute scrolling decoration with a scallop and circular motif decorated border. The upper rim and foot of the basket are encircled with applied bead decorated borders. This George III sterling silver basket is fitted with an applied bead decorated swing handle. The well of the basket is embellished with a bright cut engraved crest depicting out of a ducal coronet a wolf's head. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George III English sterling silver sugar basket; an addition to our Georgian silverware collection This exceptional antique George III sterling silver sugar basket with liner has a plain oval rounded form onto an oval swept pedestal foot. The surface of this fine example of Georgian silverware is embellished with bright cut engraved swags to the lower portion, below pierced decorated lozenge designs incorporating further bright cut engraved motifs. The upper portion of the is ornamented with pierced decorated stylized leaf designs. The rim of the body and foot are ornamented with an applied bead decorated border.
