The upper and lower portions of this Aesthetic style silver tea caddy is embellished with bands of bright cut engraved floral bud designs; further vertical bands segment the body into five equal portions, each encompassed with undulating wrigglework borders. The anterior portion of the body is ornamented with a bright cut engraved rectangular cut cornered cartouche encompassed with a radiating simplified floral and scrolling foliate decoration and featuring the contemporary engraved crest of a lion's head collared and erased. The further four segments bear Chinoiserie bright cut engraved Chinese symbols representing the four seasons: spring (? / chun), summer (? / xia), autumn (? / qiu) and winter (? / dong). This antique silver tea caddy retains the original hallmarked flush hinged cover; the flush hinge indicates the fine quality of this piece. The cover is encompassed with further bands of bright cut engraved decoration, reflecting the designs to the body. The surface of this fine example of Georgian silverware is embellished with bright cut engraved swags to the lower portion, below pierced decorated lozenge designs incorporating further bright cut engraved motifs. The upper portion of the is ornamented with pierced decorated stylized leaf designs. The rim of the body and foot are ornamented with an applied bead decorated border. This very large and substantial antique wine bottle's exact origins are unknown, but it is presumed to be English or possibly Dutch and dating from the early 1700's. The bottle was hand blown and formed and uses a very thick deep olive green glass. The slightly bent neck has a very thick stem and top which leads to a large bulbous or flask shaped base. The front and back sides have been slightly flattened which was likely done for packing and stability during shipping.
