Green Crystal Glass Apple by Ingeborg Lundin for Orrefors, Sweden, 1957
Located in Stockholm, SE
Stunning crystal glass apple by Ingeborg Lundin, tinted crispy green. The apple is an iconic piece, composed in 1955 and was first presented at H55 where it caused a sensation. The design is the epitome of Lundin’s pure, gracious style. About Ingeborg Lundin: Ingeborg Lundin was a Swedish glass artist, whose 1950s and 60s designs are among the most influential of that era. Lundin got her education at Konstfack in Stockholm and started working at Orrefors directly after her graduation in 1947. She stayed at Orrefors until 1971, redefining the art of glass design with her pure, gracious, sometimes ethereal creations. Ingeborg Lundin received the Lunning prize in 1954 and a gold medal at the Milano Triennale in 1957. Literature: Svenskt glas...

Italian Red & Blue Murano Glass Bowls, Italy, 1950s
Located in Buenos Aires, AR
DM for details and worldwide shipping! What is Murano Glass? Is it glass made in a special place? Or made using special techniques? It is actually both. Murano glass is glass in a chemical sense of the word. However, Murano glass is as different from, say, the glass in your window panes, as Rembrandt paintings are different from an empty canvas. Murano glass is created only on the island of Murano, located within the borders of the city of Venice in Northern Italy. Murano’s special glassblowing process is over a thousand years old, having been re-discovered by the local artisans from the ancient Roman...

Set Of 5 Royal Blue Liqueur Glasses, 1880s, France, Crystal Glass
Located in Greven, DE
A beautiful set of five long-stemmed liqueur glasses made from cut and clear crystal in a deep royal blue colour. The glasses, eventually Bohemian crystal glass, are mouth-blown and feature a beautiful diamond and fan pattern. In 19th century France, the art of glassmaking experienced a renaissance inspired by the rich history and heritage of ancient techniques. Antique glasses from this era are not only masterpieces of craftsmanship, but also important cultural artefacts that reflect the aesthetics and lifestyle of the time. Glassmaking in France had a long tradition dating back to Roman times. During the 19th century, French glass art experienced a revival, fuelled by technological advances and a growing demand for ornate objects for the home. A notable feature of antique glass from the 19th century is its variety of styles and techniques. French glassmakers mastered a wide range of techniques, including blowing, moulding, cutting, engraving and painting glass. These skills were utilised to produce a variety of glassware, from opulent crystal vases to delicate drinking glasses. Glasses also played an important role in the social and cultural circles of 19th century France. They were often used at festive occasions such as banquets, receptions and balls and were seen as symbols of status and taste. The art of glassmaking became a prestigious craft practised by talented artists and craftsmen. Today, antique 19th century glassware...
