By Walker & Hall

Located in London, London

This striking Art Deco sterling silver teapot, hallmarked in Sheffield in 1928 by celebrated silversmiths Walker & Hall, is a superb example of early 20th-century British design. Crafted in solid sterling silver, the teapot features a bold hand-hammered finish, reflecting the geometric elegance of the Art Deco movement. The teapot rests on a raised circular pedestal base with a gadroon border, echoed around the lid for a harmonious design. Its beautifully curved spout and distinctive ebonised wood handle and finial provide both aesthetic balance and functional comfort. The hammered texture catches the light magnificently, making it an eye-catching centrepiece for luxury interiors, collectors, or decorative table settings. This antique silver teapot not only offers timeless appeal but also embodies the fine craftsmanship of Walker & Hall, one of Sheffield’s most esteemed silversmiths. Antique silver plated coffee and tea set by Elkington & Co, England, 1880s

By Elkington & Co.

Located in Miklavž Pri Taboru, SI

Antique silver plated coffee and tea set by Elkington & Co made in the United Kingdom in the 1880s. Elkington & Co are one of the most important names in English Silver and Silver Plate. Elkington started in Birmingham in 1836, and experimented with innovative gilding techniques. By 1838 they had discovered and patented a new way to electroplate one metal on to the surface of another. By 1840 production was already underway with silver electroplated wares. The company received financial backing from Josiah Mason in 1842 (renaming the firm Elkington, Mason & Co between 1842 and 1861) and was extremely successful. It introduced electrotyping as a new method of production for silver plated items. Elkington & Co exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 with enormous success. Elkington held Royal Warrants for Queen Victoria, King Edward VI, King George V, King Edward VIII and King George VI. The Elkington & Co. name is still in use today as manufacturers under the auspices of British Silverware Ltd. The antique silver service...

Large Antique English Silver-Plated Coffee Pot Hinged Lid, Ornate Hot Water Pot

Located in Wembley, GB

Antique English Silver-Plated Coffee Pot, Victorian Era, Late 19th Century Tall Cylindrical Form with Hinged Lid and Classical Proportions This exceptional Antique English silver-plated coffee pot, dating to the late 19th century, is a distinguished example of Victorian-era table silver, combining refined craftsmanship with timeless functional elegance. Executed in a tall cylindrical form, the pot features a gracefully articulated pouring spout, a substantial curved handle, and a hinged domed lid fitted with a decorative thumb lift—designed for ease of use while maintaining heat during service. The body is subtly banded and rests on a stepped circular base, lending architectural balance and visual authority. Its clean vertical profile reflects the restrained sophistication of late Victorian design, making it equally suitable as a functional serving vessel or a decorative silver object within curated interiors. Origin & Period Produced in England during the late Victorian period, this coffee pot reflects the high standards of traditional English silversmithing, when silver-plated wares were crafted to serve both domestic households and formal hospitality settings. Such vessels were integral to coffee, tea, and hot water service during formal dining and afternoon tea rituals. The presence of maker’s marks stamped on the upper body confirms its period authenticity and adherence to established English production standards of the era. Design & Decorative Appeal The pot’s design balances practicality and elegance, with a well-proportioned spout for controlled pouring and a hinged lid that opens smoothly while remaining securely attached. The interior of the lid shows concentric turning marks, a characteristic feature of hand-finished silverware from the 19th century. This versatile piece integrates beautifully into: Traditional and period interiors Classic English dining rooms Layered tabletop and sideboard displays Luxury bar or coffee service settings Curated collections of antique silver Its understated form allows it to complement both ornate Victorian silver collections and more minimalist, heritage-inspired interiors. Craftsmanship & Materials Material: Silver-plated metal Technique: Hand-finished Victorian silverwork Construction: Hinged lid, applied handle, stepped base The silver-plated surface displays a soft, even patina, consistent with age and careful use, enhancing the pot’s authenticity and visual depth without diminishing its refined presence. This is not a decorative reproduction, but a genuine antique English silver vessel crafted for long-term use and lasting beauty. Condition Excellent antique condition, with light age-related wear and patina appropriate to its period. The structure remains sound, the hinge operates correctly, and the overall form retains strong definition and balance. Interior Styling & Use This antique coffee pot works beautifully as: A functional coffee or hot water pot A decorative silver accent for dining rooms or bars A statement object in traditional or eclectic interiors A collectible piece within a curated silverware display It pairs effortlessly with linen table settings, crystal glassware, porcelain services, dark wood furniture, and marble or stone surfaces, adding heritage and elegance to any environment. Why This Piece Is Special This Victorian English silver-plated coffee pot represents a timeless fusion of utility, craftsmanship, and understated luxury. Its classic proportions, authentic patina, and refined detailing make it highly appealing to collectors of antique silver, interior designers, and lovers of traditional English decorative arts. More than a serving vessel, it is a decorative object with historical presence, equally suited to daily appreciation or formal display. Colonial by Tiffany Sterling Silver Flatware Set Service 179 Pcs Fitted Chest

The pattern Colonial was introduced in 1895 but did not get patent until 1896. This contradicts the mark, as the dies were made with the anticipated patent date, and when it happened later than expected the expense to change it was too high. The pattern was discontinued in 1913. It was designed by Paulding Franham and was plain in comparison to his later designs. The handle is bordered by four bands which form a scroll with leaf, but the back is not an identical pattern, but similar. George Paulding Farnham (1859-1927) was born in New York City. His aunt married Charles T Cook, who assumed presidency of Tiffany after the death of Charles L Tiffany in 1902. Farnham attended Tiffany school and was trained by Edward C Moore and Charles Gosjean. He stayed with Tiffany and eventually became a board member in 1888 and in 1893 was appointed chief designer and head of jewelry later also assuming the role of artistic director of the silver department as well. His flatware designs were similar to jewelry designs, very ornate, elaborate, and in "beaux arts" tradition. He created six full sterling lines for Tiffany during his time, before leaving Tiffany in 1908. Boin Taburet - Sterling Table Service, 322pc Flatware Set + 15pc Platter Set !

By Boin-Taburet

Located in Wilmington, DE

Direct from St. Tropez:  Direct from a private mansion in St. Tropez, a stunning 19th century 950 sterling silver and vermeil table service by premier French silversmith "Boin Taburet", consisting of a 322-piece flatware set plus a 15 piece Serving platter set in their classic shell pattern, absolutely magnificent, circa late 1890s. The 19th century represented a golden age for French decorative arts, particularly in the realm of silversmithing, where technical precision and artistic innovation converged to produce some of the most exquisite tableware in European history. Among the luminaries of this era, the Parisian firm Boin-Taburet emerged as a preeminent force, celebrated for its exceptional craftsmanship, royal patronage, and the enduring beauty of its silver creations. Specializing in sterling silver and vermeil flatware, as well as ornate serving pieces such as Louis XVI-style platters, Boin-Taburet’s work epitomized the elegance and sophistication of French luxury during a period marked by opulent dining culture and aristocratic refinement. The Early Years:  The origins of Boin-Taburet can be traced to the early 19th century, a time when Paris reasserted itself as the epicenter of fine silver production following the upheavals of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars. The firm’s exact founding date remains uncertain due to incomplete archival records, but it is widely accepted that it rose to prominence during the Bourbon Restoration (1814–1830) and the subsequent July Monarchy (1830–1848). These periods witnessed a resurgence of aristocratic wealth and a renewed demand for luxury goods, creating fertile ground for master silversmiths to thrive.  Boin-Taburet distinguished itself early on by adhering to the highest standards of craftsmanship while embracing stylistic influences from both the Empire and Restoration periods. The firm’s name likely derives from its founders, though historical documentation regarding its earliest proprietors is sparse. What is clear, however, is that by the mid-19th century, Boin-Taburet had secured a place among the elite Parisian silversmiths, alongside illustrious contemporaries such as Odiot, Christofle, and Puiforcat. The firm’s workshops, likely located in the historic silversmithing district of the Marais, employed highly skilled artisans who specialized in forging, chasing, and gilding silver, ensuring that each piece met exacting standards.  The 19th century was a transformative period for French silver, as the burgeoning bourgeoisie and the returning aristocracy sought tableware that reflected their social standing. Boin-Taburet responded to this demand by producing works that blended functionality with artistic grandeur. The firm’s designs frequently drew inspiration from the Louis XVI style, a neoclassical aesthetic characterized by symmetry, floral motifs, and restrained elegance. This stylistic choice not only aligned with the prevailing tastes of the time but also ensured that Boin-Taburet’s creations would remain timeless, transcending the fleeting trends that influenced other manufacturers.  Focus on Quality:  The foundation of Boin-Taburet’s enduring reputation lay in its unwavering commitment to quality. Unlike many manufacturers who began to adopt industrial techniques in the latter half of the 19th century, Boin-Taburet remained steadfast in its dedication to traditional handcrafting methods. Each piece was meticulously shaped, engraved, and finished by master silversmiths who had undergone years, if not decades, of apprenticeship to perfect their skills. This painstaking approach ensured that every item bore the hallmarks of exceptional artistry - precise detailing, balanced proportions, and a flawless surface finish.  A defining feature of Boin-Taburet’s work was its use of 950 sterling silver, a higher silver content than the standard 925 (Britannia silver) commonly used by other firms. This elevated purity not only enhanced the metal’s luster but also improved its resistance to tarnishing, making Boin-Taburet’s pieces particularly desirable for discerning clients. The firm’s Louis XVI-style serving platters, for example, were crafted from this superior alloy, resulting in pieces that were both visually striking and remarkably durable. These platters often featured elaborate chased borders adorned with acanthus leaves, floral swags, and scalloped edges, demonstrating the silversmiths’ ability to manipulate silver into intricate, three-dimensional forms.  In addition to sterling silver, Boin-Taburet excelled in the production of vermeil - a technique that involved the application of a thick layer of gold over sterling silver through either fire-gilding or electrolysis.
