The fixture design is based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades are made of hand-blown, opal, three-layer glass, which is glossy on top and sandblasted matte on the underside, giving a soft and uniform light distribution. Poul Henningsen designed the three-shade system during 1925/1926. The first lights using the system were designed for an exhibition in Paris. Wonderful pair of vintage / first production of chrome "Foglio" sconces in fabulous conditions. These iconic lamps were designed by Tobia Scarpa and produced by Flos in Italy during the 1960s.
The Foglio (meaning 'sheet' or 'leaf' in Italian) is composed by a thick curved sheet of chromed steel with a white enameled interior and two lamp holders. The effect when lit is incredibly stylish and clean. They come wired and tested, compatible with both US and EU/UK standards and use two E26/27 light bulbs.
The way these lamps spread the light is poetic and incredibly elegant. The perfect lamps to complete a midcentury modern living room.

Tobia Scarpa’s work (as well as that of his brother Carlo, an architect) reveals a precise desire to combine old and new, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern needs.
Scarpa graduated in architecture from the University of Venice in the 1950s, together with his wife and collaborator Afra.
His first assignment as a designer was for Venini, a renowned Murano glass company.
Starting in 1957, Tobia and his wife also began working together in the field of architecture, and devoted much of their work to the delicate restoration of historic buildings.
They are also known for their sober approach to design, aimed at the luxury market.

Tiffany Blue Italian Bathroom Vanity Set Mirror, Sconces, Shelf by VECA, 1970s

Magnificent Italian bathroom set in a lovely blue tiffany colored artglass and chromed steel that includes a sqaure mirror, two sconces and a wall shelf. These fantastic items were made by VECA in Italy during the 1970s and are signed on the back of the chrome plates by the company. back.
The incredible charm of this set stands behind the quality of colored glasses made by Veca.
The glasses change color going from an iconic Tiffany blue in a well-lit environment to a stunning dark aquamarine when the ambient is not illuminated.
The sconces feature a double beveled glass design with chrome accents, in the same color of the rest of the set. They come wired and tested and use a signle E14 light bulb, compatible with both US and EU standards.
The mirror highlights a fantastic square frame in a blue tiffany colored glass mirror that holds a round clear mirror and is completed by two rectangular chrome accents.
The elegant shelf is made in sinuous colored artglass mounted on two round backplates which are also enriched by two colored round glasses covers.
An incredibly stylish Mid-Century bathroom setting, in amazing conditions, with no chips. The mirror frame has some minor signs of oxidation (but no fading), which are less noticeable in a daily use than in the photos, and don't compromise the elegance of this fantastic set.
This set will become the focal point of a midcentury modern bathroom...
