Postmodern Counterweight Desk Lamp by Robert Sonneman, USA 1970-80s

About the Item

Ingenious desk lamp with a counterweight mechanism which allows the lamp to be stable in every position. The spheric counterweight is solid steel and heavy enough to point or position the lamp as desired. A throughout solid construction which suggests that this lamp was only manufactured in small quantities. The triangular base of the lamp is made of a steel-tube painted black, the mechanism is made of brushed stainless steel, the tube which supports the shade of chromed steel. The shade is made of aluminium painted black outside and white inside. It has a distinctive form inspired by architecture which gives the lamp a post-modern look. The exact date of manufacture is unknown, but the styling is reminiscent of the late 1970s or mid-1980s. The EU plug can be replaced by US plug if desired.
