1700's Chippendale Style Country Ladder Ribbon-Back Maple Side Chairs, Pair

By Thomas Chippendale

Located in Louisville, KY

If these two chairs could speak, the history they might share. These rare and very early chairs are hand-carved and constructed in a refined primitive country design, reflective of the era. Utilizing a stunning, rich maple, the top rails and cross rails flow with ribbon designs for a touch of elegance. The backs of these chairs are more delicate than others of this period and style. Higher, thinner rails and styles found in these chair backs, mixed with the heavy squared legs and wide band stretchers make these an impressive example of an Early American country chair...

1870's Antique French Giltwood Aubusson Salon Set, Settee and Fauteuils

Located in Dallas, TX

Take a timeless, bespoke design, mix in a dash of romantic connotations to get this worn-in bucolic charm aesthetic. Invite the beauty of Louis XV style into your home with this Giltwood Aubusson Tapestry three piece salon suite from the French Napoleon III period. Upholstered with hand-woven Aubusson tapestry and carved giltwood, this Late 19th Century three piece salon suite includes a settee and two matching armchairs. The settee and Fauteuil (armchair) are supported by turned tapering legs, padded armrests, and cartouche-shaped backs. Please take into consideration these pieces are from the 1870's as a result some frame work and reupholstery may be required. All facets of this 3-piece set collectively entwine to form the striking and grand charm of a textile that is worthy to depict the tender, emotive, and vibrant details of humans and histories, no longer known. The historic worth far exceeds any damage that comes with centuries of wear. In any event, it is simply amazing. If you adore timeworn treasure, this antique parlor set...

Rare 1930s French Wicker Rattan Emmanuelle Peacock Chair

Located in Birmingham, AL

A large, classic 1930s Peacock chair handcrafted in France of woven two-toned rattan and wicker. Having a flamboyant shaped high flaring back that resembles the fanned feathers of the bird after which it's named, this rare chair features large rolled arms and an hourglass shaped base. A stunning piece of furniture with a rich history, its design and craftsmanship reflect the elegance and sophistication of its era. Designed to make a statement both structurally and aesthetically, Peacock chairs are considered pieces of art as well as chairs. In fine original condition with a beautifully aged original rich surface color patina, this chair is part of a set that includes the chair and a very rare Peacock rocker, probably custom made in the South of France. Each piece is sold separately. The iconic Peacock chair has a fascinating history and cultural significance. Gaining popularity in the 1920s, it became a "must have piece" with everyone from government officials to celebrities. Its association with Hollywood and the entertainment industry further elevated its status, as seen in its prominent appearances in films and TV series.
