The La Che Side Table honors the beautiful traditional weaving Craft of Colombia. Sebastian Herkner designed the collection after visiting Colombia and studying the weaving techniques of the local artisans. The name La Che is a reference to the Laches, an indigenous Colombian people, who used a method with the same name to create baskets. The tables are available in three sizes.
The tables are made in small workshops in the Boyacá region, which is situated 2,400 meters above sea level in the Colombian Andes. This area has a long tradition of working with fibers made from the leaves of the fique plant. These fibers are wound by hand and a robust part of the fique plant is used as a frame. The dyes used have mostly natural ingredients, such as nuts, roots, and bark from trees, all native to the region.
