"Tavolino 1932" is a classic coffee table, originally designed by Gio' Ponti in 1932 and manufactured by FontanaArte, made of two 0.59" th. discs of float glass and featuring a frame in polished nickel plated brass. Indoor use only. DIMENSIONS: Ø 24", H. 24" GIO' PONTI, right from the start, was active in the fields of architecture, painting, graphics and set design as an eclectic character. He graduated from Milan Polytechnic in 1920 and was art director for Richard Ginori from 1923-1930. In 1926, with editor Gianni Mazzocchi, he founded the magazine Domus, staying on as editor until his death. He was invited to take over the art direction of Luigi Fontana in 1931 and in 1932 he founded FontanaArte with Pietro Chiesa. He was one of the promoters of the Compasso d’Oro Award and a founder member of the ADI (Italian association for industrial design), as well as curating programmes for the Milan Triennale on many events and teaching at Milan Polytechnic. He designed numerous famous public and private buildings, including the houses in Via De Togni, the tower-house in Corso Venezia, offices for RAI and Ferrania, the Littoria tower in Parco Sempione, the Pirelli skyscraper in Milan, Taranto Cathedral, Villa Planchart in Caracas and Denver Museum of Modern Art. In the field of design he created timeless furniture, lighting and objects for FontanaArte, as well as the Superleggera chair and furniture for Cassina, Christofle cutlery and Richard Ginori china.

Tréology is about connecting people to nature through functional art. Odyssey was created after a road trip to New Zealand's wild West Coast to observe nature’s craft work. Looking deep into nature, we saw the layered rock formations along the sea coast and rivers of New Zealand to achieve a functional table base. The design progression sought to bring layering metaphors into the piece, but a solid mass would be visually too heavy. The solution was to add volume through the introduction of negative space and deliver an abstract representation of the rocks and boulders we observed. Mid-Century Italian Brutalist Side Tables Iron-Glass-Nickel by Banci, Florence 1960s The tables are very refined in design and workmanship. A nickel-plated stainless steel supporting frame is decorated with 4 rounded, solid 1.5 cm thick iron plates. These trays are suspended from the frame and have a ribbed, roughly sawn outer edge. A rectangular, nickel-plated spacer sits in the middle and the glass plate sits on it, which is secured with a large, nickel-plated ring with a ball. The glass plates are also 1.5 cm thick and have a shell decoration on the edge. This decoration is worked by pinching out and must be done by hand. This ensures that the outer edges of the coarse iron are perfectly joined to the glass edge. The nickel-plated support frame adds even more tension to the mix of materials. The design is artistic and chic, the tables can be used both in an elegant interior as a contrast and in a casual-cool area. The tables are very heavy and weigh around 40 kg per table. The table height without the ring is 44cm, the ring with the ball has a height of 8cm. For more than a century, Italian manufacturer Banci Firenze has been known throughout the world for its extensive range of innovative lighting and furniture inspired by geometry, nature and modernist architecture. Founded in 1899 by Giuseppe Banci, Banci Firenze began as a workshop in Florence, initially specializing in the restoration of glass, crystal and iron chandeliers. In the 1900s, the company developed further - Banci Firenze became a manufacturer of exquisite lighting fixtures made of hand-blown glass, hand-crafted wrought iron, bronze with gold leaf. Although the company is best known for its carefully designed chandeliers, sconces, ceiling lights and table lamps, Banci Firenze's range expanded to include other furnishings in the mid-20th century. Particularly popular in the 1950s and 1960s was Banci Firenze's Hollywood Regency-style Collection'S, such as glass-topped side tables with gilded floral accents and bases. In the 1970s, Banci Firenze's most popular designs included dining room tables and cocktail tables characterized by mid-century modernist and Art Deco elements.
