Amuneal's Black Wood, Steel, and Bronze Industrial Wall Mounted Shelving
Located in New York, NY
Amuneal's Charred Pine, Steel and Bronze Shelving with Formed Returns. This single bay Loft Shelving Series unit is wall-mounted to support five shelves, using custom machined brass fittings on bent steel posts. Amuneal’s proprietary machined hardware clamps onto the posts so that the shelves can be easily adjusted at any time. The burnt oak shelves are milled in house from pine before being hand-finished using the traditional Shou Sugi Ban process of burning the wood. Ebonized oak is a similar looking alternative black wood option. Once completed, the shelves are sealed with a protective coating that keeps that burnt finish from rubbing off. The combination of blackened steel posts, machined and patinated brass hardware and the charred oak shelves make this a stunning and sculptural shelving...

Mid Century Modern Still Life with Jug and Vase by Ramon Prats (1928-2003)
By Ramon Prats, Giorgio Morandi
Located in Garnerville, NY
Ramon Prats (1928-2003) vase and jug still life oil paint on masonite. Circa 1971. Signed and dated lower right, Prats, '71. A peaceful rendering and reminiscent of Morandi's solitary still life paintings. Prats' stippling effect with the brush or palette knife has created a beautifully tactile and textured painting. Light and dark contrast of the violet cylinder next to the curvaceous jug. A wonderful piece. the framing treatment consists of a simple flat black wood profile molding. The piece is in good overall condition with minor losses around the corners and edges of the work. No other major paint losses. No visible crazing, water damage or restorations. Some scuffs, dings and losses to the black frame. Wear consistent with age. Approximate overall dimensions with frame are 1.5" deep x 16" wide x 24.75" high. The approximate measurements of the actual work on masonite are 15.63" wide x 24.25" high. Bio from AskArt: Ramon Prats Born: 1928 - Spain Died: 2003 - Mexico Known for: Abstract mixed-media explosion theme, still life paintings Biography from Waddington's Spanish-born Ramón Prats was appointed as the official artist and illustrator for "El País" newspaper in Havana, Cuba when he was 15 years old. He regularly exhibited at the Associated American Artists (AAA) Gallery until 1955 and also at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Prats moved to Mexico in 1956 and was pivotal in spearheading the development of modern art there until his death at age 74. Biography from Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum Ramon Prats (American, b. Leroy Setziol Early Masterwork-1963 Architectural Wood Relief
By Leroy Setziol
Located in Camden, ME
This monumental wood sculpture by Leroy Setziol (1915–2005) is a rare and significant early commission, created in 1963 for the National Bank of Portland, Oregon. Measuring an impressive 191" x 31" x 7", the piece marks a pivotal moment in Setziol’s career as he transitioned into large-scale architectural work—integrating fine art with the built environment in a way that would define his legacy. Carved in his signature style of deeply incised geometric forms and rhythmic abstraction, the panel reflects Setziol’s exploration of nature, spirituality, and cultural symbolism. Commissioned during a period of progressive architectural development in the Pacific Northwest, the work exemplifies the region’s modernist ethos—where art and architecture were conceived in harmony. Setziol would go on to complete numerous public commissions, collaborating with leading architects such as Pietro Belluschi and becoming one of the most influential wood sculptors of the 20th century. Early, large-scale works like this are exceptionally rare on the market and offer a unique opportunity to own a foundational piece of Pacific Northwest modernism. This sculpture is not only a stunning example of Setziol’s craft—it is a historical artifact from a turning point in American architectural and design history. The following is taken from the Portland Art Museum's profile of Leroy Setziol for their exhibit in 2015-16 celebrating the 100th year anniversary of his birth "Leroy Setziol" Sept 5, 2015 – Oct 30, 2016 "A composer in wood, Leroy Setziol created lyrical sculpture that honors the beauty of a material strongly identified with the Northwest. The black walnut, teak, fir, and other woods he employed enhanced his complex gridded compositions, bringing them to life. A self-taught, intuitive worker, Setziol visualized his complex carvings using the grid as an armature to frame imaginative shapes. Throughout his career, his sculpture ranged from intimate works to large-scale public commissions. The largest work on display is an elegant, teak, two-panel wall relief from 1991. Twenty-three works are on view, including free-standing sculpture, totems, and a variety of wall reliefs. Setziol’s sculpture gained greater recognition with Portland’s architectural community in 1964 when he was invited by Northwest Regionalist architect John Storrs to carve a series of large-scale relief panels for Salishan Lodge in Gleneden Beach...

Antique Oil Painting Portrait of Dog by Animalier Jan Van Essen
Located in Casteren, Noord-Brabant
Beautiful dog portrait by the Dutch painter Jan Essen. The painting shows a Schipperke, which is a breed of dog that used to be more common than it is now. It is a small-sized shepherd, of Belgian origin. The painter has succeeded in portraying the dog in its natural position. Beautiful details are the black fur of the dog and the eyes. The way the dog looks is just very dog like, a dog lover will recognize this faithful, loyal look. Jan Essen is a well-known Dutch animal painter from the second half of the 19th century. Initially he painted landscapes and cityscapes, but under the influence of the English animal painter J. Swan he also started painting animals from 1885 onwards. He has never lacked appreciation, because his work has been awarded at exhibitions in Amsterdam, Germany, France and Australia. He learned the trade from Conrad Greive (1837-1891). Signed and dated top left, Jan van Essen...
