Place of Origin: Oceanic
'Beach Camp' Modernist Oil Painting Signed Anne Montgomery, 1984
By Anne Montgomery
Located in Melbourne, AU
Anne Montgomery has been considered for many years one of the women artists Australia forgot. Not any more. Along with the likes of Clarice Beckett and Lina Bryans, her work is now recognised as an important part of Australian modernism. The breadth and quality of Montgomery's work over a long lifetime has always been appreciated by other artists. As Australian women artists in the mid Century period were relegated to the fringes of the establishment, they freely explored their own vision and developed their own style. Montgomery's work richly deserves the attention it's now receiving. This work shows Montgomery's unique perception and expression of colour in the Australian landscape. Her use of oil on board gives her work a robust structure but the inclusion of ink sketching in the work gives it a delicate texture. Her foliage and grasses tickle, her fabric floats, trees dance - her landscapes are in constant movement. This painting depicts a family camping under canvas amongst the Tea...

James Bond 'Moonraker' Original Vintage Australian Daybill Movie Poster, 1979
Located in Devon, GB
Capitalising on the sci-fi space craze in the wake of 'Star Wars,' EON Productions opted to postpone filming 'For Your Eyes Only' in favour of loosely adapting Ian Fleming's 'Moonraker' as the eleventh instalment in the James Bond series. And so Roger Moore's fourth outing as agent 007 saw him head into outer space to prevent a plot to wipe out the world population and recreate humanity with a master race. Despite production costs more than double those of 'The Spy Who Loved Me' (1977), the space-age lark became the highest grossing 007 movie to date, until usurped by 'Goldeneye' in 1995. The Australian Daybill poster featured the same spectacular silvery artwork by American artist Daniel Goozee as the British and US poster campaigns, which pictured Bond in a spacesuit rather than his typical tux. Although a similar format, Australian day bills are significantly rarer than US insert posters.

Australian Sydney Harbour Bridge design Painting 1932
By Douglas Annand
Located in Seaford, GB
Sydney Harbour poster Sydney Harbour Bridge poster design Attributed to Douglas Annand in our opinion, this was an original drawing for the 1932 poster competition. In 1932, the poster competition committee asked Douglas Annand and Arthur Whitmore to collaborate together to produce the now-famous 19th March 1932 poster. There are clear similarities between ours and the collaborative poster. Our design clearly shows more of an Art Deco and feminine design, as opposed to the more masculine, collaborative Sydney Harbour Bridge poster design. Our drawing is Gouache on paper laid down on the artist's board. The drawing is in the original frame and mount, dated March 1932 and is unsigned. BIOGRAPHY Douglas Shenton Annand (1903-1976), graphic designer and artist, was born on 22 March 1903 at Toowoomba, Queensland, the third child of Frederick William Gadsby Annand, accountant, and his wife Helen Alice, née Robinson, both Queenslanders. Having taken the commercial course at the Central Technical College, Brisbane, in 1920, Douglas j...

2006, Australian, Betsy Lewis Napangardi (1940-2008), Framed Mina Mina Dreaming, etching on paper. Number 5 of 60 and pencil signed Betsy Lewis with embossed seal. Information on the back of the work from the Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Association and dated 1/11/2007, describes the story behind the work authenticates it. Dimensions: 17.5"w x 23.5"h x 1.5"d (framed) 7.5"w x 13"h (sight) Condition: Good. Not examined out of frame. Shows well. Ready to hang. Biography: Betsy Lewis Napangardi was a traditional Warlpiri woman from the Yuendumu Community region. Betsy was born in the bush just west of Yuendumu in the 1940’s, this was before hospitals and health clinics were available and accessible in the area. Betsy moved to Mount Doreen Station with her family at a young age. She was raised by Paddy Japanangka Lewis and attended the Yuendumu School. She spent her life living in Yuendumu. Betsy began painting full time in 1999 however she had been painting for Warlukurlangu Artists for some time before then. She was considered at the forefront of the move towards more abstract depictions of Aboriginal art however did maintain a strong connection to her Kurruwarri heritage. Her art is bright and textured with thick layers of paint. Some of her family members are also artists such as Margaret Lewis. Betsy is known best for five Dreamtime depictions - Snake Vine, Women’s Dreaming, Edible Fungus, Dreaming Site and Dogwood. The story of Jintiparnta is of the Napangardi and Napanangka women who collect Jintiparnta or Edible Fungus at Karnakarlangu. The area is also known as Mina Mina. The ancestral women would travel from here heading north and east toward Janyinki and Alcoota country. The Mina Mina is a ceremonial place which belongs to the Japanangka and Japangardi men and the Napanangka and Napangardi women. Water soakages, sand hills...
