A Very Fine and Large Italian 18th-19th century oval-shaped oil on canvas titled "The Triumph of Venice" After the original work by the master Paolo Veronese (Venice, 1528-1588). The original of this painting hangs in the Palazzo Ducale, Venice. The 'Ricci' coloration suggests a late 17th-early 18th century date. In 1715 Charles de la Fosse advised Ricci to paint only "Veroneses and no more Riccis", Venice, circa 1800s. Measures: Height: 45 1/4 inches (115 cm). Width: 29 inches (73.7 cm). The third series of photographs by fine Taxidermists Sinke & Van Tongeren After observing and analysing so many 17th century paintings, they were inspired to create a new series of work focused on still life masterpieces. They chose photography as the medium to portray their fine Taxidermy work interpreted through vanitas still lifes. The collection, ‘Les Peintures des Taxidermistes’, comprises eight works. Vanitas still lifes were enormously popular in the 17th century, often inspired by biblical themes and the saying that “All is vanity”. It reminded the viewer of his or her own mortality. For these series of still lifes Sinke & van Tongeren not only created meaningful scenes of taxidermy, they also mined their enormous collection of great finds to gather the most beautiful and unusual antiques to complement each scene. Title of this work; ’RÉUNION D’OISEAUX ÉTRANGERS’ Cabinets of curiosity were of monumental importance in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. Assembling them with interesting and rare objects was a competitive hobby amongst the elite, and to collect a great number of mounted species from everywhere in the world was the Holy Grail of the day. For ‘Réunion d’oiseaux étrangers’, we created that Holy Grail again, but this time stocking our cabinet with seemingly live species. Frans Franken III and aid, Adoration of the Magi Good condition The oil painting on wood, with a gold background, depicts an Adoration of the Magi. The Magi are dressed in sumptuous silk and brocade dresses; they wear precious hats and jewelery. The richness of their garments is in contrast with the humility of the Holy Family and of the other characters who, around curious, observe the scene. The hut is simple, made of wood and straw: above it shines the Comet, symbol of the divine event. In the distance, a group of wayfarers walk along a path that is lost on the horizon, blending into the gold of the bottom. The representation proposes a traditional iconography, in which the painter inserts some details that he lends himself to symbolic interpretations. Among these is the appearance of the Magi, who from the XIVth century differs iconographically: the wise astronomers represent the homage to Jesus of the then known parts of the world, namely Africa, Asia and Europe. To the right of the Magi, in the foreground, sits a monkey, considered a demonic creature and a symbol of lies and sin. It is depicted on the sidelines, as a defeat, next to a fragment of a classical column: ruin alludes to the end of paganism, of the old world that collapses with the advent of the new one, marked by the birth of Christ and liberation from the Original Sin. On the ruins he climbs the ivy, symbol of the immortality of the soul. The work is attributable to the workshop of the Flemish painter Frans Francken III...

The frames feature oval openings, with laurel wreath carvings and bows to the top. Both plaques depict bust-length portraits of men, shown in three-quarter profile with laurel wreaths adorning their heads. They are both painted in a style that evokes the portraiture of the 16th century, with great care taken to render the details of each sitter’s face, and expressive brushstrokes for the background and clothing.
