Framed Antique Two-Piece Chinese Embroidery Winter Jacket Ensemble
Located in Atlanta, GA
This two-piece set of Chinese antique winter coat and a neck warmer ensemble circa 19th century (late Qing dynasty) is presented in two matching giltwood shadow boxes. Tailored in light auberge silk with thick padding, the attire was reserved for cold winter weather, which was common in Northern China. The surface is masterfully adorned with embroidery of silver threads. Although the color pallet was nearly minimalistic compared to many other colorful embroidery work at the time, the contrast of silver on auberge background is visually stunning and exudes a noble air of elegance. Floral and foliage motifs are showcased in neat arrangement across the coat and ocean waves and coral rocks...

Large Early 19th Century Painted and Silkwork Picture 'The Good Samaritan'
Located in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire
The picture retains its original gilt frame. The image is rendered in a mixture of silkwork and hand painted decoration and depicts the injured traveler on the roadside being aided by the Samaritan while the Levite and the Priest are seen in the distance. This parable is told by Jesus in the Gospel of Luke. A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who both stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead. By chance a certain priest was going down that way. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side. In the same way a Levite also, when he came to the place, and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he travelled, came where he was. When he saw him, he was moved with compassion, came to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. He set him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the host, and said to him, 'Take care of him. Whatever you spend beyond that, I will repay you when I return.' Now which of these three do you think seemed to be a neighbor to him who fell among the robbers?" This work is vastly bigger than 19th century silkwork pictures...

Floral Bolinpush Suzani Textile From Central Asia
Located in London, GB
Floral Bolinpush suzani textile from Central Asia Uzbekistan, Early 20th Century Length 161cm, width 161cm Exquisitely handcrafted and embroidered in the early 20th century, this Bolinpush suzani hails from the historic town of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The textile’s design centres on a petite marigold bloom, with larger, similar forms alternating between rich maroon and marigold shades emanating from it. Surrounding these are abstract, symmetrical black floral motifs within a maroon border, complemented by repeated black and maroon patterns. The suzani is framed by embroidered borders in maroon and cream, before ending in a striking, black-coloured textile edge. Miguel Cisterna, Le Dinosaure, Large-scale Hand-embroidered Screen, France, 2014
Located in New York, NY
Equally elegant and exotic, Miguel Cisterna’s works imbue the classical French tradition of fine embroidery with a modern sensibility. His hand sewn, labor intensive designs layer contrasting materials to create one-of-a-kind haute couture embroidered textiles. Raffia is wrought into shafts of wheat gently bending into the wind, insects crafted from wire and shell hover and crawl, floral designs sparkle with crystal embellishments, and the fragile elegance of humanity is made apparent through anatomical drawings...
