One day, in a conversation about their different tastes, it occurred to them to do an edit of Newton Paisley designs for people who, like Beatrice, think less is more in their interiors. Best-selling Newton Paisley designs were reimagined as one-colour 18th century toile de Jouys; favourite botanical details from other designs were reconfigured in simple airy geometrical repeats. Cacti are enjoying a new popularity, but globally, one out of three cacti is in need of conservation attention. The design includes the Chisos Mountain hedgehog cactus, hallucinogenic Peyote, a critically endangered dragon fruit, which forms the long tendrils in the design, and lesser long-nosed bat (an essential pollinator for cacti) and the iconic saguaro and crested saguaro cacti. These unusual forms give the design a contemporary feel, and the pops of magenta, a common flower color for this group, give great vibrancy to the design.
