Simakov Kirill – Russian photographer. Born on August 15, 1984 in Moscow. Taking a great interest in photography, Kirill began working at the S.Bermeniev’s National Portrait Gallery in Moscow. He was organizing and conducting photo sessions of world celebrities and outstanding figures of art and politics, curated exhibitions, and belonged to the editorial group on creating books, catalogs in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Milan, Vicenza, New York, etc. In 2012 he received a certificate of completion of the course “Marketing for photographers” and in 2018 completed “Portrait Photography” course at the New York Institute of Photography. In 2013, Kirill founded his own Collection of author’s photos for interior decoration of homes and office space. In 2016 he opened a working studio in Moscow. In 2017 – 2018 there were Kirill’s solo exhibitions: – “Borislav Strulev and Friends”, Conservatory, Belgorod (30 portraits); – “New York or Nowhere”, FLACON Design Factory (40 photos); – “Outstanding People. I met this young married Samburu in the middle of a busy market in western Kenya. She was with a group of young women browsing the wooden stalls dotted across the dusty red earth in the lowlands of the Matthew’s Range. In Samburu communities young men spend years as warriors – a wandering lifestyle which make it impossible for them to marry. Instead they take girlfriends and give them beads and necklaces to indicate their relationship. Samburu girls adore receiving these presents and adorn themselves in more and more necklaces. The girl in this picture, although now married to an elder, still shows her beads from the time of being promised to a warrior: they are the band of 8 or so thin necklaces...

The pre-eminent aerial photographer of his generation, he is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship for photography and his work is in the collections of major museums from SF MoMA to the Victoria and Albert. Prior to taking up aerial photography, Light conceived of and put together the book Full Moon - the first look at NASA photography as fine art - and a project which was published in multiple editions selling several hundred thousand copies around the world. In a way Full Moon had a bearing on Light's subsequent aerial work, as he continues to see and explore the terrestrial world much as the astronauts saw the moon. For the last 15 years Light has been flying his own small aircraft primarily over the American West investigating how both man and nature make their mark on the landscape. To date Light has completed 18 separate Western projects - each of which comprises an oversize handmade artist's book as well as more traditional prints. Largely documenting the impact of man and industry on the land (but not immune to the sublime) Light's subjects range from Utah's gold and copper mines and the (over)development of places like Sun City, AZ and Lake Las Vegas, NV to contrasting Arizona's Meteor Crater - the largest meteoric impact site in the Americas - with James Turrell's Roden Crater...
