Amazone Bronze Scullpture Horse Mythology In Stock Theo Mackaay (1950) Mackaay works with recognizable shape:: women, men and animals, with a pointer at the primal form. Archetypal motives like warriors, women, horses, archers, lovecouples, created with his own signature. An example of this work is the wellknown ‘Gouden Kalf’, the big prize of the ‘Nederlands Film Festival’, designed in 1980 by Mackaay, commissioned by Jos Stelling, filmdirector and initiator of the festival. There has been big developments in his work after the calf, but the basic forms are still to be found in his work. The renewal in his work has been a internal fight, between the two sides of his brain. The wild artist animal and the changed, peaceful, contemplative sculptor. The last one won! Not only did he change as a human being, his work changed with him. Big, tough, expressionist bronzes and stone statues whith the woman and animal as favourite subject, changed in touching, intimate bronze sculptures. In the early work of Mackaay, the masters of the past were more visible, like Marino Marini and Ossip Zadkine. Now it seems, the artist is letting go of the past and found his own form language, after all the highs and lows in his life. His wandering through France, Italy and China brought him to Malaga in Spain, his current residence. Maybe it is the Mediterranean Sea or the Spanish sun...

"Cow and Ballerina" is an original painted wood sculpture by Schomer Lichtner. It features a high-kicking ballerina standing on the back of a cow. The artist signed the piece. 36" x 61" x 26" art Milwaukee artist, Schomer Lichtner passed away on May 9, 2006 at the age of 101. He continued to amaze and create with his whimsical paintings of ballerinas and cows. He and his late wife Ruth Grotenrath, both well-known Wisconsin artists, began their prolific careers as muralists for WPA projects, primarily post offices. Schomer Lichtner was well known for his whimsical cows and ballerinas, such as his "Ballerina Dancing on Cow" sculpture below. The late James Auer, art critic for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel referred to Lichtner as the artist laureate of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the official artist of the Milwaukee Ballet. Lichtner also painted murals for industry and private clients. Schomer was a printmaker and produced block prints, lithographs, and serigraph prints. His casein (paint made from dairy products) and acrylic paintings are of the rural Wisconsin landscape and farm animals. He became interested in cows when he and Ruth spent summers near Holy Hill in Washington County. According to David Gordon, director of the Milwaukee Art Museum, Schomer Lichtner had a tremendous joie de vivre, " joy of life," and expressed it in his art. Schomer Lichtner was nationally known for his whimsical paintings and sculptures of black- and white-patterned Holstein cows...

K.S. Radhakrishnan - Krishna - HT : 13 x W : 10 x CIR : 20 inches Bronze Sculpture. Krishna : Figurative sculpture of Hindu God by great Modern Indian Artist K.S. Radhakrishnan who has successfully brought about a defenitive resurgence in Indian sculpture. Style : K.S Radhakrishnan is one of the most notable among the new generation of sculptors. Like many of his contempories he is a figurative sculptor, but his preference for modelling and bronze casting sets him apart from the rest of them. Recharging age old sculptural processes with a new sensibility, thus is the singular challenge he brings to modern Indian sculpture. And this makes him a modernist - who approaches his work with discernible ambition and considerable aplomb while steering clear of brinkmanship. Radhakrishnan's works often drawn from the emotions and myths of the Hindu gods, such as Shiva, Kali and Radha. His sculptures are often larger than life-sized; placed in the outdoors, they evoke a superhuman atmosphere. Over the years, Radhakrishnan has experienced with alternate sculpting mediums, working in molten bronze, beeswax and Plaster of Paris. The physical process of working with the materials becomes a performance in itself. The sculpture is the product of a tactile engagement with his medium. With celebration of sensuality as one of its running themes, his works is at once both intimate and universal in its appeal. A personal commemorative sculpture, with a scale and presence that holds well in natural settings, his work has found permanent home in a number of public collections all over the world. William Sweetlove, born in Ostend, Belgium, in 1949, unites dadaism with surrealism and pop art in humoristic sculptures that at first sight may seem “kitschy”. However, closer familiarity with his works reveals their role as a creative antidote to the overproduction and overconsumption of our society. With his cloned animals William Sweetlove calls for greater ecological awareness and urges us to reflect on the consequences of the climate change challengeing humanity. His cloned dogs wear boots since the sea level rises and the penguins carry water bottles since we are runnig out of drinking water. William Sweetlove has had exhibitions at art fairs, galleries and museums all over the world. His works are found in several private art collections.
