Grande Tête De Femme Au Chapeau Orné (Woman’s Big Head with Decked Hat)
Located in Palo Alto, CA
Created in 1964, this red earthenware clay big rectangular plaque printed with engobe pad is #15 from the edition of 50. This work is stamped with the 'MADOURA PLEIN FEU’ and ‘EMPREINTE ORIGINALE DE PICASSO’ stamps on the reverse. Pablo Picasso Grande Tête De Femme Au Chapeau Orné (Woman’s Big Head with Decked Hat), 1964 A.R. 518 is a remarkable and beautiful work. It represents Picasso’s most important relationships at the time, namely his artistic partnership with the Ramiés and his romance with Jacqueline Roque. It is also notably one of two ceramic works Picasso has ever made of this scale. Picasso takes immense care in depicting this portrait of his greatest muse Jacqueline; its wonderful texture and delicate variations in line weight are testaments to the artist’s innate creative skill. Composed of a simple linear carved design in an earth tone clay plaque...

Venus Figure
Located in Toronto, Ontario
Sorel Etrog (1933 - 2014) is arguably Canada's most famous sculptor. His works can be found in numerous museums and private collections including the Tate, the AGO and LACMA. His public sculptures can be found on iconic corners in Toronto, Montreal, Israel and beyond. The Art Gallery of Ontario organized a major retrospective of his work that ran in 2013. This work is the earliest Etrog sculpture Caviar20 has handled to date. It is from Etrog's debut period and may be one of his first works to be casted. This untitled work aka "Venus Figure" merges two signature elements that Etrog employs or combines frequently - the primitive with modernist figuration. The proportions and curves of this work recall the ancient "Venus of Willendorf" sculpture - filtered through Etrog's abstracted bronze lens. Similar sculptures, referred to as "Venus Figurines...

Labyrinth II Small Bronze Sculpture Face Woman Green Patina In Stock
Located in Utrecht, NL
Labyrinth Bronze Sculpture Face Woman Green Patina In Stock - Sizes without stone The statues of Erwin Meijer are subtle with a recognizable, personal handwriting. They breathe the atmosphere of a narrative poem, where the reader not only encounters the artist, but also himself. Though the statues are realistic, there is still enough room for interpretation. Do the artist and the viewer see the same story? It doesn’t really matter, because the beauty in his work has a autonome quality. How can we interprete the work in the conscious and unconscious brain? The first will be hit by the clear styled forms and the technical know-how. The second by his favourite theme, nature, the loving images of men and animals, often together in harmony. Very common in his work is the symbolic worth within the story. The viewer experiences an emotion, seeing a human or human presence, funny or vulnerable. You sympathize with the myth and feel the power of the methaphorical meaning. This is confirms we are dealing with a real artist. Erwin Meijer managed very well to give his sculptures a classic universality, timeless, surpassing the boundaries of reality. With a signature beyond countries and cultures. . East and west meet each other in many sculptures, like Europe and the bull...

Signed by hand COA provided Ref.: 924802-1809 *Made to Order Every piece is unique, design might differ slightly Customization possible **Lead time approx. 2 weeks for qty 1-3 495 780 Her work references exclusive and precious porcelain wares from 18th-century Europe. In her work she tries to capture the qualities for which porcelain has been known since its discovery in China: whiteness, translucency, and resonance. She is attracted to the enameled and lustered surfaces of the Baroque, Renaissance and Rococo porcelain designs, as well as to elaborations on structural elements of these time periods. She is investigating surface decorations and embellished shapes in order to gain more knowledge for my own studio practice. Sherman is interested in incorporating and referencing historic drawings, motives, and patterns into her work. Studying the history of ceramics Sherman has been captivated by the relationship between East and West, and how they continue to influence each other, especially through the ceramic arts. Although there might be considerable differences between the two civilizations, the cultural exchange between them is an important connector of history and has produced a long and rich exchange of ideas between artists and makers. Asian craft traditions have been handed down to the West and the handmade aspect, even within the factory setting, is still an important concept that allows for control of design and quality by the artist, which is essential within craft of the West. White Spiral
Located in Atlanta, GA
Louis Durot was born in Paris on April 22, 1939. He was something of an enfant terrible, and managed to be expelled from various schools for bad conduct. His ambition, as stated to his parents, was to earn money without having to work, and for a time, he was an “escort-boy” for a Parisian Grande Dame. He did, however, manage to get a good education in spite of himself, and received his Baccalaureate degree from Lycee Louis Pasteur in 1956. In 1960, he enrolled in the Facultie de Sciences, where he studied mathematics. He terminated his math studies in 1963, and turned his attention to engineering, working for Equipel, where he was responsible for calculating and measuring resistance for prototype nuclear generators. Equipel became a research facility, and offered Durot the opportunity to study organic chemistry. Durot directed numerous research projects for Equipel between 1966 and 1972. During this time, in fact, starting in 1964, he made many friends in the art world, gathering together artists from a variety of disciplines to form an artists commune — the Freelane Studio. Among the members were jazz journalist Gilles Brinnon, and a young painter, Jean Ihallero — a friend of the painter Maxime Defert. Through them, he met the artist Francois Arnal, who was interested in Durots’ engineering expertise for his sculptures. They got on well, and worked together for two years. Also in this circle were the actress Micheline Presle and the actor Daniel Gelin. In 1968, Arnal and Presle created Le Festival de Theatre de Chateauvallon, and through this, Durot became friends with the noted film director Ulysse Reynaud. In 1966, Francois Arnal introduced Durot to the artist Cesar, with the idea that Durot’s talents as a chemical engineer would be useful. Durot spent a year helping Cesar to master the techniques of working with polyurethane foam, with Durot searching for ways to make this fragile and ephemeral substance more stable and permanent, and more amenable to control. Cesars’ first works in this medium were flat, due to the difficulty of controlling the foam, but he went on to create his famous “expansions”. In 1968, Durot conceived a project to create more three-dimensional sculptures following a simple and precise design. It was during this time that Durot made his first polyurethane sculptures — the Champignons and Plantes Carnivores. Also in 1968, he He opened his first technical studio at 35, rue Leon. In order to support this new endeavor,( he needed more space, equipment, time and money), he created La Societe Durgalith. 1971 saw the Durat’s first works exhibited at the Salon Batimat in Paris. With this exhibition, Durot was hoping to attract the attention of architects with whom he could collaborate. Between 1971 and 1974, Durot created sixty sculptures inspired by fantastical “alien” life, mushrooms, and carnivorous plants. In 1974, Durot”s Societie Durgalith ran into problems with the Italian firm that owned Batimat. Credit Lyonnaise seized his studio and many of his sculptures, and quite a number of them were destroyed. This same year, Durot worked with the architects Sloan and Lecouter on an inflatable structure for the Pavillion Franaise in Osaka. Unfortunately, the project was never realized. Durot continued to pursue his research on polyurethanes, and gained world-wide recognition for his developments in this field. In 1977, a “student prank” had un-expectedly bad consequences. Durot was employed as an engineer at L’Usine Francaise de la Monnaie (the French mint) in Pessac. He took three kilos of “blanks”, and used them for playing slot-machines. For this, he spent seven weeks in jail, which was ended by an amnesty granted by Mitterand in 1981. During Durot’s time in prison, he took up weight-lifting, and also designed his next generation of sculptures. The spirals, feet, lips, and a series of erotic chairs...

Sympathetically capturing the essence of the urban landscape in his work, Jeff says - ‘I studied HND Art & Design at the Glasgow College of Building & Printing before working as a set artist for “the Complex” theatre, Los Angeles. I then went on to study BSc “Special Effects” at Southbank University, London, which led to employment in the Art/Special Effects departments on major movie productions including the Oscar-winning “Last Samurai” and Steven Spielbergs’ Oscar-nominated “Munich”. After several years working as a fine artist in the industry, I realised a lifelong ambition, setting up my own glass studio to research and work with the diverse materials and challenging techniques involved in the creation of multi-layered glass sculpture.’
