A Life-Size Italian 19th C. Marble Sculpture Children in a Crib by A. Tantardini
A Life-Size Italian 19th C. Marble Sculpture Children in a Crib by A. Tantardini

A Life-Size Italian 19th C. Marble Sculpture Children in a Crib by A. Tantardini

Located in LA, CA

Antonio Tantardini (Italian, 1829-1879) An extraordinary Italian 19th century life-size carved Carrara white marble sculpture of "A Young Child and a baby in a wicker crib" - A Risorgimento Allegory subject. The older child's medallion inscribed with an interlocked XV and Garibaldi, the crib monogrammed: AR. Signed and dated: A.nio Tantanrdini F.ce / 1863. Circa: Florence, 1863. This sculpture includes a recent custom-made veined black marble pedestal stand. (The 2 items description mean the sculpture and pedestal, which are sold as sold a set.) In a country famed for its skilled carvers and working in an age when virtuoso carving technique was highly prized, Antonio Tantardini was one of the very best exponents of master carvers in nineteenth century Italy. Vicario describes Tantardini's skill as 'un abilità tecnica stupefacente'. The present amazing quality marble group epitomizes Tantardini's exceptional talents as a carver. Lesser sculptors might have shied away from attempting to carve a life-size wicker crib in marble, but Tantardini has clearly relished the Challenge. The result is a stunning achievement of verismo Italian sculpture. This marble group, however, is more than a paradigm of Italian marble carving, it is also a prime example of the use of Risorgimento allegory in Italian sculpture of the 1860s. Famous sculptural Risorgimento allegories include Raffaelle Monti...

Lucid Dreamer James Jean Resin Sculpture with mirrored base

By James Jean

Located in Draper, UT

For his first time-limited sculpture, James Jean sets a ghostly figure in perpetual freefall. First seen tumbling through flowers and clouds in an epic 2019 painting, the Descendent has become a prominent motif in James Jean’s explorations of time, space and fantasy. Falling forever, yet somehow serene, the figure represents ‘caught in between' feelings of all kinds – up and down, east and west, dream and reality. Descendent - Lucid Dreamer...

Madsaki Mona Lisa Graffiti Spray Can with Signed Wooden Display Case Street Art

Located in Draper, UT

A graduate of New York City’s Parsons School of Design (BFA, 1996), MADSAKI was born in Osaka, Japan, and raised in New Jersey, USA – experiences between two cultures that formed his aesthetics and personality. While much of MADSAKI’s work centers on his interest in art history and critiquing mass culture with references to slang, movies and manga characters, the artist has recently been exploring more personal, intimate topics. To express this visually, MADSAKI developed a signature style using spray paint as a fine art medium, stemming from the fact that he has never participated in illegal graffiti on the streets. The artist is particularly known for his Wannabie's series, which at first glance humorously targets old masters, yet their deeper meaning is a reoccurring theme that can be found throughout MADSAKI’s artistic practice - an attempt to use laughter and humor as both distraction and therapy for his internal turmoil. Limited Edition Spray Can...

Sea Legs 2/99

Sea Legs 2/99

By Giuseppe Palumbo

Located in Napa, CA

Giuseppe Palumbo’s whimsical, anthropomorphic sculptures delve into the human psyche through irony, wit, and humor. By applying classical techniques to his contemporary subjects, Palumbo’s textured and spirited bronzes embody the essence of each being he portrays. The surprising humanization of common animals urges the viewer to identify with the creatures and forge surprisingly intense emotional connection with the artwork, shattering not only the barriers between viewer and artwork, but between human and beast. In addition to Palumbo’s renowned collection of animals, Palumbo pushes the boundaries of the human experience even further with his exploration of shapes and objects. From small people...
