Sebastien de Ganay Folded Linen Abstract Minimalist Unique Sculpture Fabric Wire
Located in Surfside, FL
Folded Flat Linen 01 2016 Dimensions: H: 36 cm / W: 35 cm / D: 9 cm Materials: architectural wire mesh, raw linen Born in 1962 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, Sebastien De Ganay studied political science and film at Columbia University in New York 1986-1990 ( (Bachelor of Political Science, Master of Fine Arts in Cinema) and is co-founder and editor of the art book publishing house onestar press. In addition to numerous exhibition participations, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Landesmuseum Österreich in St. Pölten, Austria, the Institut Français in Vienna showed a comprehensive solo exhibition of the artist in 2014. In 2017, de Ganay realized a highly acclaimed installation for the Kunsthalle Krems. de Ganay lives and works in Austria. de Ganay produces minimalist abstract art works, painting, relief and wall sculpture. Sculptures made of aluminum, linen fabric, plastic, oil painting, wood and other materials. de Ganay joins a tradition of experimental artists. In this sense, for example, the Achromes by the Italian Arte-Povera artist Piero Manzoni, created in the 1960s, point the way for de Ganay's examination of folded linen fabric. "The process of de Ganay's Painting is the process of thought itself; it is a process which turns not away from painting, but towards it. And rather than seeing painting as closure, he presents his work to us as a space of multiple openings, layers, shadows and reflections. Painting is, as much as an object or a process, a state of flux." (Adrian Searle, art critic for The Guardian, London (1994)) In the style of Readymades and Arte Povera, de Ganay starts out from a simple utility material and combines this with an examination of the surface in the tradition of Minimal Art. He designed a limited edition chair "PLEASE" a “4 Piece Chair” customized by John Baldessari, Lawrence Weiner and Rirkrit Tiravanija. SELECT SOLO EXHIBITIONS: 2019 CRISS CROSS - Sébastien de Ganay, Raffaella della Olga, Galerie Steinek, Wien, Österreich "Flip, Flop, Flux", Galerie Ruzicska, Salzburg, Austria 2018 "und, und, und", rauminhalt harald bichler, Vienna, Austria 2017 "Fold on Fold", Häusler Contemporary, Lustenau, Austria "Transposition an Reproduction", Kunsthalle Krems in der Dominikanerkirche, Krems, Austria 2016 "Space on the Move", Hausler Contemporary, Zurich, Switzerland 2015 "Fold", Häusler Contemporary, Munich, Germany "Folded Flat" Galerie Ruzicska, Salzburg, Austria 2014 "Turn the green light on", Institut Français in Palais Clam-Gallas, Vienna, Austria "over again forever" Galerie Steinek, Vienna, Austria 2013 Sébastien de Ganay, "Carton Sculptures", rauminhalt harald bichler, Vienna, Austria St. Moritz Art Masters, Schlosserei, St. Moritz, Switzerland "you are here", Galerie Günter Salzmann, Innsbruck, Austria 2010 Presentation of the "All in one"-project, Galerie Renos Xippas, Paris, France 2009 "Catalogue", Daniel Abate Galeria, Buenos Aires, Argentina 2005 "Máscaras, más cajas, más caras", Daniel Abate Galeria, Buenos Aires, Argentina 2004 "Artist Quarterly", Sotheby’s, Vienna, Austria 2002 Galerie Jacqueline Rabouan-Moussion, Paris, France 2001 "Blanchiment d’argent et haute couture", Galerie Jacqueline Rabouan-Moussion, Paris, France SELECT GROUP EXHIBITIONS: 2019 "THE OTHER IS ONESELF", FRANZ JOSEFS KAI 3, Vienna, Austria "Sculptura", Iris Andraschek, Babi Badalov, Khaled Barakeh, Bernhard Cella, Adriana Czerni, Ramesch Daha, Sébastien de Ganay, Raffaella della Olga, Julius Deutschbauer, Sylvia Eckermann, Anna Jermolaewa, Bouchra Khalili, Thomas Locher, Jonathan Monk, Klaus Mosettig, Rudolf Polansky, Hans Schabus, Slavs & Tatars Gerold Tagwerker, Florian Unterberger, Costa Vece, Martin Walde, Lawrence Weiner, Nil Yalter...

Unique painting on paper done with paint roller by Minimalist pioneer Lyman Kipp
Located in New York, NY
Lyman Kipp Unique painting on paper done with paint roller, 1970 Ink roller painting on paper Signed and dated in ink by Lyman Kipp on the lower right Frame included: elegantly framed in a museum quality wood frame with UV plexiglass This is a unique color oil painting created in 1970 with his signature technique of using a roller, by pioneering Minimalist artist Lyman Kipp, one of the founders of Construct Gallery., which included sculptors Kenneth Snelson and Mark di Suvero. Measurements: Frame: 17.5 x 15.25 x 1.75 inches Artwork: 11 x 8.5 inches About Lyman Kipp: The large, powerful sculptures of Lyman Kipp were part of the Primary Structures movement in the 1960s, that transformed the way sculptors worked, and the way in which sculpture was viewed in America. The Constructivism movement, that began in Moscow in the 1920s, espoused the idea that art should be created for the benefit of society and that artists should be involved in industrial design and construction. It viewed the artist as a creator, designer and constructor. The simplicity of design of the Constructivists had a profound effect on the De Stijl movement in the Netherlands and the Bauhaus movement in Germany during the 1920s and ‘30s. Artists in the United States were slowly embracing the ideas of constructivism and minimalism, but it took a group of artists, including Kipp, to change the way artists, and the public, create and view art. Kipp was born in Dobbs Ferry, New York in 1929. He studied at Pratt Institute in New York and then went on the study and teach at the Cranbook Academy in Michigan. He began making large, steel and aluminum sculptures in the 1960s, that had to be transported and welded together on site. He worked in spare, geometric shapes and primary colors. In 1966, the Jewish Museum in New York organized the Primary Structures exhibit, showing large, minimal style works by young American and British sculptors. The show was a huge success, and got rave reviews by art critics, including those of Time and Newsweek. In an effort to get continued recognition, a group of American sculptors, including Lyman Kipp, founded an artist-owned gallery called, ConStruct. They organized exhibitions throughout the United States to promote their large-scale sculptures. The pieces we have in our gallery are maquettes, preliminary models that Kipp made before he built and assembled his huge, finished sculptures. In addition to painting and creating sculptures for public spaces, Kipp dedicated his life to art education. He taught at Bennington College in Vermont, Hunter College in New York and became the chairman of the art department at Lehman College in New York. Kipp’s works are part of the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Lyman Kipp died in Bonita Springs, Florida on March 30, 2014, leaving a legacy of his work in parks and public spaces around Florida and other states throughout the U.S. Courtesy of Vertu Fine Art

Minimalist Abstract Color Field Painting in Lime Green and Yellows(C20-7)
Located in Hudson, NY
Nature-Inspired Minimalist Abstract Color Field painting on three wood panels in shades of Lime Green and yellows Acrylic on 3 panels Each panel is 24 x 24 x 2 inches can be oriented vertically or horizontally Overall measurement for horizontal install with 1-2 inch recommended spacing, 24 x 76 x 2 inches horizontally We are amazed by Ginny Fox's ability to achieve multiple flawless layers of acrylic paint, wiping it on and off with cotton cloth, to create a subtle yet distinctive woven texture on a smooth surface. The artist's work is inspired by patterns found in nature such as tree rings, rock lines, ethereal horizons, or water ripples. It appears as though a light source is originating behind the panel, glowing softly in a pale, dreamy green palette. This unique surface spreads all the way to the very edge of each panel. The 2 inch deep sides are cleanly painted white for a seamless finish. These panels hang flush to the wall by resting on two nails on either side of the panel, and can be arranged in any number of ways, highlighting the work's sculptural element. Artist's Statement: My paintings merge the detailed textures and colors found in the natural world with the linear and geometric patterns visible in industrial and architectural structures. The interplay of these elements drives the work and provides a platform for constant change and narrative. By simultaneously layering and removing paint with rags instead of brushes, my hand is directly involved with the process. Each piece contains multiple panels that evoke a nuanced and evolving universe. Ginny Fox builds up each non-representational piece with overlapping streaks of paint that frequently span two or three panels. Working with rags instead of brushes, Fox’s hand moves along parallel paths, emergent colors cascading gently towards the edges of the composition's plane. There’s something vaporous to the outer layers of the work, the interwoven strands of color offering glimpses at the painting’s earthy base and hinting at the artist’s gradual process. Having received her education from New York University in the 1970s, Fox has since exhibited throughout the United States, especially in New York City and the northeastern U.S. RESUME Solo Exhibits 2019 Winterscape Soho20 Bushwick, New York 2017 Perpetual Earth Soho20 Bushwick, New York 2015 Intimate Universe Soho20 Chelsea New York...
