This piece is ready to be displayed and enjoyed, offering a touch of nostalgia and natural beauty to any space. Les Parson has been a popular British Artist with a loyal following for nearly forty years. Despite having a personal interest in art, Parson never received any formal training. Born in Lancashire in 1945, he worked in London as a Computer Engineer until 1974. He then moved to Cornwall working as an installer of Radar, Sonar and Ship to Shore radio on small fishing boats. In a chance meeting with local gallery owners in 1978, Parson was encouraged to expand his artistic skills and transform his hobby into a career. He therefore put aside his pencil sketching and watercolour paintings in lieu of the more permanent medium of oil on canvas and become a flourishing full-time artist. As a professional artist, Les Parson has become renowned for his nostalgic paintings of rural landscapes featuring children at play. His work is internationally recognised, with many of his paintings published as prints. The paintings of Les Parson remain highly-sought after by both domestic and international collectors. 'A Country Scene With a Woman Feeding the Chickens' A Victorian oil painting

By John Constable

Located in St. Albans, GB

You have the opportunity to buy this painting showing a wonderful and idyllic example of English countryside and life on a large scale impressing all who view it. Painted around 1830-40 it has a beautiful free flowing style to it and encompasses everything typical to Victorian England. Signed John Constable bottom right. We offer free shipping worldwide. Canvas Size: 40 x 50" (100 x 125cm) Outside Frame Size: 51 x 61 (127.5 x 152.5cm) We have written 'After' in the artist profile because we are not certain that it is by Constable without doing all the research, full testing and date analysis. If it was genuine it would be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. Our initial estimation is that it might have been a piece that was finished by a student of his. The quality is excellent and the stretcher bars on the reverse are, I believe, in keeping with the ones that Constable bought. Whilst this is very common nowadays, it has an old reline so the original canvas is not visible. Without doing the background research and getting the official authentication we are only comfortable in describing it as 'After'. John Constable Constable was born in East Bergholt, Suffolk on 11 June 1776 and attended a school in Lavenham and his father hoped he would enter the church. His father was adamant that he would not be a painter as a profession. He met a local man named John Dunthorne who painted local scenes, mainly in nearby fields. His love of all things natural stemmed from this. Later he copied works by Girtin from a book that was lent to him by Sir George Beaumont...

English 19th century men bird shooting in a landscape, with dogs and horse

By John Nost Sartorius 1

Located in Woodbury, CT

John Nost Sartorius (British, 1759–1828) Men Out Bird Shooting in a Woodland Landscape, circa 1820 Oil on wooden panel, in a fine antique gilt frame Unsigned A finely observed early 19th-century sporting picture by John Nost Sartorius, one of the most respected figures in the English tradition of animal and sporting painting. The composition depicts a quiet moment in the field: a sportsman advancing through woodland with his gun, accompanied by attentive pointers, their forms crisply picked out against the darker recesses of the forest. Sartorius was celebrated for his ability to combine accurate animal portraiture with atmospheric landscape settings, and this work is characteristic of his mature period. The dogs are rendered with anatomical confidence and individual character, while the surrounding woodland is handled with a restrained, naturalistic palette that lends depth and calm to the scene. The narrative is understated and refined, intended as much for contemplation as for sporting reference. Painted on a wooden panel, as was common for Sartorius’s smaller and more intimate works, the picture retains a pleasing surface quality and detail. It is housed in an antique gilt frame of appropriate date, enhancing its presence and lending a strong period feel. Works by Sartorius were highly sought after by country house patrons in the early 19th century and were often commissioned to record favourite dogs or shooting grounds. Today, paintings of this type remain especially appealing to collectors of British sporting art and sit equally well in traditional country house interiors or more formal libraries and studies. A confident and decorative example of English sporting painting...
