Sculpture of a Young Boy with Robe
Located in Milford, NH
A fine classical form marble sculpture of a young boy with robe by Irish / American artist Martin Milmore (1844-1883). Milmore was born in Sligo, Ireland and was brought to Boston, Massachusetts in 1851, where his training began with his brother, Joseph, a stonecutter, who later became his assistant. Milmore was apprenticed to Thomas Ball from 1858 to 1862 working mainly on his equestrian "George Washington" (1858-61, Boston Public Gardens). After Ball departed for Italy, Milmore became Boston's leading sculptor. Realistic in his style, he is best known for his Civil War monuments and sculptures of prominent Bostonians including Wendell Phillips...

The Fight Within 2/9 (Stainless Steel)
By Gail Folwell
Located in Napa, CA
Gail Folwell is a contemporary sculptor who holds a BFA from the University of Denver and has had an accomplished career in graphic design as well as extensive university and college teaching experience before she began sculpting full time. Her highly expressive bronze figurative work is full of inspiring energy and emotion. “Design and illustration are powerful tools”, which gave Folwell “a sound understanding of anatomy and body mechanics,” she says. She finds the human body, with all of it’s musculature, speed, and grace, beautiful and inspiring. Her design approach considers the practical, emotional and environmental elements of the public art experience.
Folwell works in large and small scale, bronze, clay, or styrothane for public and private collections. She has exhibited with The National Academy of Design and The National Sculpture Society in New York, The Denver Art Museum in Denver, Colorado, and has completed monumental sculptural commissions for the National Hockey League, University of South Alabama, Vail Valley Foundation, Bowling Green State University, The city of Frisco in Texas, the Gerald Ford...

Jane DeDecker, American, b. 1961
Jane DeDecker’s energetic and dynamic bronze sculptures serve as a reflection of her own life experiences and those of her closely-knit family. Her twelve nieces and nephews are the primary source of her inspiration, though DeDecker’s sculptures are not portraits. In fact, her loose style leaves her viewers with room for interpretation, so as to see their own lives within her sculptures. This imprecision, combined with her unique ability to capture specific moments to which each viewer can relate on a personal level, regardless of age, give DeDecker’s work a timeless quality that spans generations.
DeDecker began her artistic training as a painter at the University of Northern Colorado, until a professor, noticing her joy in the portrayal of shapes and forms, suggested she try her hand at sculpture...

"Mountain King" ceramic sculpture with figure, deer, snake and chrysallis
Located in New York, NY
This free standing glazed porcelain sculpture features multi-level coves in which various scenes are depicted. The bottom level of the 'mountain form' holds a dreamer figure with a hanging chrysallis above. The second, middle section holds a snake in a nest like form. The top level holds a resting deer. The overall mountain form is transfigured into the embodiment of a male figure, with a long cloak draped along the back. This figures and forms in this sculpture are all hand-built by Austrian-American artist, Sascha Mallon.
“Mountains are a recurring theme in my work. They are a metaphor for the body and also allude to my Austrian heritage. They refer to the border between inside and outside and represent stability and home. My mountain sculptures...

YOUNG HERCULES, Italy, 18th Century
terracotta
44 x 25 x 25 cm
17 1/4 x 9 3/4 x 9 3/4 in
This lovely sculpture represents the young Hercules, seated with his legs crossed, gently holding a bird with his right hand, raised in the air, while supporting his own weight with his left hand.
The artwork refers to the notorious Roman sculpture of the young Hercules killing the snakes sent by Hera, exhibited at the Capitoline Museums in Rome. Academics have identified the young emperor Caracalla or, more recently, Annio Vero, son of the emperor Marcus Aurelius, in the portrait of the sculpture.
During the 16th Century there has been an increasing interest of patrons towards the theme of mythology and several acclaimed Italian sculptors worked on the creation of sculptures and depictions of Roman Gods.
Among them, the distinguished baroque artist Alessandro Algardi worked on the restoration of several ancient sculptures...
