Bumsters are pants that sat low on the hips, exposing the top of the buttocks. Bumsters caused a bit of a sensation when Alexander McQueen debuted the risqué style in 1994. Fashion journalists mocked the ultra low-rise pants, comparing them to what builders would wear. Shop a selection of bumster pieces from some of the top boutiques on 1stDibs.

Before launching his own label, he was the chief of design at the luxury house of Givenchy. On 1stDibs, find a collection of Alexander McQueen.

The best way to clean Alexander McQueen sneakers depends on the material. Generally, you can wipe off surface dirt with a dry microfiber cloth. Tackle stubborn stains with a cleaning product designed for the material, such as a leather or suede cleaner. On 1stDibs, shop a collection of Alexander McQueen sneakers.
  • 1stDibs ExpertMarch 22, 2022
You can authenticate Alexander McQueen sneakers in a variety of ways. One option is to examine the stitching that connects the upper to the outsole. On genuine sneakers, the stitching stops at the point where the sole texture shifts from smooth to rough. Stitching often extends past that point on replicas. Alternatively, check the back of the tongue. Genuine Alexander McQueen designs show the style name and size in the same dark gold numbers toward the center. The fonts may vary in color and size or appear closer to the top of the tongue on fakes. You'll find a range of expertly vetted Alexander McQueen sneakers on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertMarch 22, 2022
To begin to tie Alexander McQueen sneakers in the brand's trademark style, point the shoe away from you and pass the lace from the bottom left eyelet through the center tab and out through the upper right eyelet. Then, take the end of the lace on the left side and pull it across the shoe through the bottom right eyelet. From there, thread through the second-lowest left-hand eyelet. Cross the lace over to the bottom right-hand eyelet and continue in this fashion until you lace it all the way. Then, tie the ends in a bow.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
In Alexander McQueen's fashion designs, VOSS means the Spring/Summer collection produced by the designer in 2001. The name comes from a Norwegian village known for its wildlife and reflects the use of natural elements in the pieces. Find a large selection of Alexander McQueen apparel and accessories on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertMarch 22, 2022

Alexander McQueen changed fashion in many ways. His shows revolutionized the runway, adding theatrical elements like music and poetry. Yes, Alexander McQueen trainers are unisex. The designs can suit both men and women. However, the brand divides their shoes by men's and women's on their website and lists only one set of sizes to simplify shopping. Shop a selection of Alexander McQueen trainers and other shoes on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertMarch 8, 2024
Alexander McQueen used skulls as a symbol to bring his interest in mortality and the fragility of life to his work. The legendary British fashion designer used skulls (and bones) throughout his designs, including in his scarves, shoes, shirts and other items, starting with his 1992 graduate collection, which focused on Jack the Ripper and his victims.

The skull, of course, is a memento mori, a reminder of death. McQueen frequently juxtaposed the glamour of the catwalk with intimations of our coming doom. McQueen's skull scarf appeared in his Spring 2003 collection. Inspired by the 1986 Roland Joffé film 'The Mission,' the collection featured pirate looks and a shipwreck theme. The scarf soon became widely coveted among celebrities and tastemakers, and it was reproduced by counterfeiters worldwide. The designer's handbags are equally edgy and chic, and his skull-clasp Four-Ring Clutch and other clutches featuring skull motifs have become iconic McQueen accessories.

Find vintage Alexander McQueen bags, dresses, jackets and other items for sale on 1stDibs.
