A Well Cast Patinated Bronze Example of a Bronze Bust of Italian Poet Dante Alighieri complete with its original creamy gold alabaster rectangular base, modelled as a hardback book.

Beautifully aged plaster sculpture of a 17th century poet. Once painted a muted terra cotta color, weathering has created a wonderful, distressed patina.

The compensated pendulum movement is supported at the back by a bust of the poet Homer, itself raised by two allegories probably Justice carrying a sword and Victory holding a palm.

I'm guessing this is a 19th century bronze casting of this iconic sculpture.  

This Greek bust depicts the legendary poet and author Homer who is presumed to have penned the two of ancient Greece’s most epic poems: the Iliad and the Odyssey.
