Rare Vintage French Style Mystery 8 Day Waterwheel Rolling Ball Industrial Clock

For your consideration is a mystery Water Wheel Industrial Ball Bearing Clock. It comes with an 8 day movement and keeps very good time!! This water wheel industrial clock has a big paddle wheel on the right side which hold a a set of small steel ball bearings. The weight of these balls is propelling the clock. Please note the time shows a thin glass dial with Roman numerals. Every 60 seconds, a small ball drops down from the water wheel onto the track where the steel ball rolls to the left side. The bucket catches the ball and move it up one by one. Every 60 seconds, a steel ball drops from the left bucket on the channel to the waterwheel. Then the bucket drops down and go around to catch another ball bearing. The loops goes on as the clock keeps on running. The buckets chain is made of brass and nicely done. The power is received from an 8 day fusee movement inside the solid hardwood base, red ash. And the clock has a pendulum on the back to regulate the timing. The whole animation of this clock is just like a waterwheel except it's ball bearing "flowing" through channels and there is a clock on the big water wheel. The clock is protected by a glass dome. It measure 17-3/4" tall, 17-3/4" wide, and 8-3/4" deep including the glass dome. I'm sure this clock will upscale any clock store...

A stunning and very high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and Rouge Griotte marble clock signed Raingo Frères. The clock is raised by two elegant rectangular reeded supports at the front and circular spiral fluted feet behind below striking richly chased elongated rosettes centering a fine pierced fitted intertwined laurel branch also repeated at the rounded sides. At the center is an impressive pierced fitted ormolu mount with Rinceau shaped scrolled acanthus leaves and berried laurel garlands flanked by striking fluted columns with fitted decorative ormolu chandelles and stunning lightly curved richly chased cornucopias with ribbons at each side. The enamel dial displays Roman numeral hour markings and Arabic numeral minute markings with elegant pierced foliate ormolu hands framed within an elegant mottled bezel with foliate and beaded designs. Above is the remarkable top crown a richly chased berried laurel wreath, a quiver, arrows, a bow and the eternal flame all tied with a flowing ribbon and displaying a wonderful satin and burnished finish. The clock is raised by elegant topie shaped feet with fine wrap around berried laurel bands below the white Carrara marble base with rounded sides decorated with richly chased pierced intertwined berried laurel and blooming flower bands, and a finely detailed central plaque depicting charming cherubs playing musical instruments. Above are two exquisite patinated bronze maidens sitting on a mottled support with lovely foliate designs each draped in wonderfully executed garments and holding a wreath and flowers with a charming winged cherub extending his arms up. At the center is the elegant enameled dial with Arabic hour numerals amidst lovely floral garlands and numbers indicating the date at the border with delicate pierced ormolu hands with a remarkable pieced foliate design at the back. A large and impressive French Empire period gilt bronze mantel clock of exceptional quality and colour.
French (possibly retailed in Italy) - Circa 1820.
The finely chased and original gilt bronze case depicting Orpheus playing his lyre with an eight-day bell striking movement, outside countwheel, backplate initialled and numbered 'A C D 1516’.
The dial with Roman numerals and inscribed Riccardo Pacinoti of Lavourne. It is a French movement (silk suspension) striking the hour and half hour. The case in the form of an oblong pillar cast with anthemium and cornucopia beneath a draped urn and a laurel wreath, flanked by the figure of Orpheus playing his lyre, the stepped plinth cast with wonderfully detailed underworld scenes, on leaf scroll feet.
In excellent condition the clock case has been cleaned with the movement completely overhauled and serviced to the highest standard by a specialist restorer.
