Monolithic Stone Meteorite
Located in London, GB
Unclassified Meteorite Stone Height: 36.83 cm 42.5 kg A dramatic extraterrestrial sculpture, of monolithic form, covered in a thick grey-brown fusion crust and with areas of sandy deposits from untold years spent on the desert floor. Formed in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter during the formation of our solar system, some 4.55 billion years ago, this large stone would have been separated from its parent body by an enormous impact before journeying through interplanetary space and eventually reaching Earth. Upon atmospheric entry it would have reached cosmic velocity, heating the surrounding air to 1700°C and producing a large ball of fire. The heat was sufficient to melt the outer surface of the stone, exposing a new surface which in turn also melted away, losing as much as 95% of its initial mass before reaching the ground. The last molten layer to form as it collided with the Earth covered the stone in a layer of fusion crust, evidence of the incredible impact force delivered by this extraordinary specimen. “This unclassified stone meteorite was found in Northwest Africa. It has a relatively smooth, dark brown, slightly weathered fusion crust; some small melt veins are visible on the surface. Due to the near-absence of terrestrial rocks in this region of the Sahara, meteorite hunting in this area has yielded many notable discoveries.” Dr Alan E. Rubin, PhD Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences...

Large Chondrite Meteorite with Regmaglypts
Located in London, GB
NWA 12759 Stone, Chondrite - L5 18.3 KG “This specimen of the NWA 12759 L5 chondrite has a smooth posterior fusion crust where meteoritic melt pooled as the rock descended through the atmosphere and was heated by friction with molecules of air. The meteorite is from the L-chondrite asteroid that was destroyed by an energetic collision 470 million years ago.” Dr Alan E. Rubin, PhD Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences, UCLA Detached from its parent body by a mighty impact, this large, oriented meteorite travelled over a hundred million miles through space before falling to Earth in the North African desert. Beautiful regmaglypts radiate from the apex of its cone shaped nose. These elongated dimples formed when streaks of superheated molten rock streamed off the meteor’s surface as it blazed through the atmosphere. The entire piece is coated in a glossy, umber-coloured fusion crust and close examination reveals remnants of encrusted, orange dirt. Whilst most meteors tumble as they travel through the Earth’s atmosphere, oriented meteorites...

Brutalist Bar Cabinet 1960' Tansania
Located in Rome, IT
Rare and unique brutalist bar cabinet decorated with hand carved bear. Koncz Vilmos (1932 – 2006). He started painting at the age of 30, using the following techniques: charcoal, pastel, oil. He has had solo exhibitions eight times in Budapest, and his works have been featured in seventeen group exhibitions worldwide. He was an experimental creator. Its more than 420 works include glass mosaics, terracotta, copper embossing and furniture carving. After his death, most of his oeuvre was “lost”. A decade and a half passed from painting to the first carvings. Middle Eastern and African culture had a major impact on his further artistic work. Traveled and created in Baghdad, Kuwait, Beirut and Tanzania. He became acquainted with the ancient folk art of the Makonde tribe, with carvings of ebony and ivory, which changed his creative career. When he made an authentic bracelet out of ivory, decorated with African motifs, the members of the tribe welcomed him among themselves. He became the tribe’s "Mister Vili." An exhibition of his painted paintings was held at the Kilimanjaro Hotel. He learned the machining of copper from the Arabs and the making of glass mosaics, and the tricks of jewelry making from the Hindus. He had forty large sculptures erected in various settlements of Hungary, mostly multi-field, made with a circular carving technique. Everything from ornaments on the table to the three-meter-high monument was found in his oeuvre. The Tiszakürt Arboretum also houses two wooden sculptures made of circular carvings: Tasso and the Tanzanian family tree. Donated works of his hometown: the 1956 headboard, the “Jászok” and “Kunok” (Old Hungarian Tribes), the “Flute”, the “Kolompolás” (Ringing the Bell) and the “Winged Altar”. In the 1980s, he also made carvings for the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden. His Ars Poetic was: “I do what I love, which drives from within, because I want to leave marks behind that I once existed and perhaps not uselessly” (2002). The term "Brutalist" originated from Le Corbusier’s Cité...

African Tribal Statue Osseyba or Reliquary Figure Kota Mohongwe Peoples Art
Located in Miami, FL
A fantastically hand-crafted piece by the Kota (or Bakota) tribe who are located in the northeastern region of Gabon. This figure, which is a Mahongwe reliquary figure as exhibited with its truncated almond-shaped face, is made of wound copper, hammered brass and wood. Reliquary figures were used as guardians to protect the revered bones of venerated family ancestors and leaders and ward off unwanted spirits. These figures are meant to embody intense powers and were also commonly used in communal rites and ritual performances. This particular piece came from an American collector who traveled the African continent and collected African artifacts for over 50 years. This piece has a beautiful, organically aged patina acquired naturally over time and use. It is mounted on a custom wooden display stand. We believe it dates back to the early to mid-1900s but could be older. We are listing as 20th century because we did not have it appraised. This African Tribal Statue Osseyba or Reliquary Figure Kota (Bakota) Mohongwe Peoples decorative art would clearly stand out as part of a collection or by itself in any setting. Truly unique, eye-catching and engaging. Dimensions on stand: 25 3/4" High, 7" Wide, 5 1/2" Deep Kota Reliquary...

Premier quality shoulder mount taxidermy Burchell's zebra, a southern subspecies of the plains zebra, from South Africa. This exquisite piece of art measures 37” x 16” x 30”, making it a rare and unique find for collectors and nature enthusiasts alike. The Burchell's zebra is named after the British explorer and naturalist William John Burchell and is also known as the bontequagga, Damaraland zebra, or Zululand zebra. This zebra specimen boasts distinctive brown and white stripes that are particularly wide, creating a striking contrast against its coat. Moreover, each individual's stripe pattern is unique, which acts as an identifying characteristic similar to fingerprints in human beings. This shoulder mount taxidermy specimen is an excellent representation of the natural beauty and diversity of Burchell's zebra, which inhabits open savannas, woodlands, and scrublands of southeastern Africa. This mount is not only visually appealing, but it also adds a touch of versatility to any living space. It can be easily mounted on a wall or as a table mount, making it an ideal focal point in a variety of settings. An indicator of status and family, stools play an integral role in traditional Ashanti culture. Believed to be the resting place for a person's soul, a stool is given to a child when they first learn to crawl and used in personal milestones throughout the rest of their life. Carved from a solid block of wood, each stool has a rectangular base and a distinctive curved seat supported by a central column and four corner posts. While some ceremonial stools are carved to convey particular proverbs, this stool is simply decorated with scalloped edges, geometric patterns, and a small cross.
