Abstract Sculpture Polychrome Metal Circles, like Ron Arad - 1950/1960
By Jean Tinguely, Alexander Calder, Ron Arad
Located in Paris, FR
Large structure/sculpture, composed of several polychrome metallic circles. . In the spirit of Ron Arad's bookworms and design pieces and abstract sculptures or Jean Tinguely sculptures . Period : 1960 . Origin : France . Can be positioned on the wall as a bookworm or wall sculpture . Dimensions : . Height : 110cm W : 114cm D : 21 cm . Several traces of rust as shown on the video. . In vintage condition. . Ron Arad, a British designer of Israeli origin, was born in 1951 in Tel Aviv. First trained at the Jerusalem Academy of Art, Ron Arad then studied at the Architectural Association School in London in 1973. . Ron Arad's first creations are furniture made with metal tubes and called "one-offs" because they are unique pieces. One Off is also the name of his first company. Ron Arad became famous in the early 1970s, thanks to the creation of seats inspired by the armchairs of a Rover, seats that he found in a car junkyard. Also among Ron Arad's best-known pieces are the Bookworm shelf from 1993 and the Tom Vac chair from 1997. His surprising work makes him a free creator without constraints or borders who navigates between design, architecture and plastic arts. Ron Arad uses materials such as plastic, polished steel or aluminum to create elements made of aerial scrolls. His creations with sinusoidal, elliptical or ovoid shapes range from unique pieces to industrial production, including limited series. In 2008, the Center Pompidou presents a retrospective of his work, entitled "No Discipline". There are major and emblematic pieces of the artist, prototypes accompanied by audiovisuals, limited series and objects of industrial production as well as numerous architectural projects. Ron Arad, whose works are exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, creates pieces for renowned houses such as Vitra, Kartell, Moroso, Artemide and Alessi. . Jean Tinguely, born May 22, 1925 in Friborg and died August 30, 1991 in Bern, was a Swiss sculptor, painter and draftsman. With his second wife, Niki de Saint Phalle, he created gigantic...

19th Century Bronze Sculpture of Joan of Arc by Adrien Étienne Gaudez, Signed
By Adrien Étienne Gaudez
Located in Tonbridge, Kent
19th Century Bronze Sculpture of Joan of Arc by Adrien Étienne Gaudez, Signed, 61.5 cm Description: This exceptional 19th-century bronze sculpture, titled Jeanne d’Arc portant son étendard (Joan of Arc Carrying Her Standard), is a masterful work by the renowned French sculptor Adrien Étienne Gaudez (1845-1902). Standing at an impressive 61.5 cm (24.2 inches) in height, this piece captures the heroic essence of Joan of Arc, also known as "The Maid of Orléans," in a dynamic and emotive composition. Gaudez depicts Joan of Arc in full armor, her right arm triumphantly raising a banner inscribed with intricate detailing, while her left hand gestures forward, symbolizing leadership and resolve. The flowing drapery of her skirt and the textured standard add a sense of movement, showcasing Gaudez’s meticulous attention to detail—a hallmark of his work often described as "photographic representationism." The sculpture is signed by the artist on the base, which also features a cartouche with the inscription "Jeanne d’Arc, 1894," adding historical context to this piece. Crafted during the late 19th century, a period when Joan of Arc was celebrated as a symbol of French patriotism, this sculpture reflects Gaudez’s skill in blending classical themes with the emerging Art Nouveau style. Gaudez, a pupil of François Jouffroy at the École des Beaux-Arts, was a celebrated sculptor who exhibited at the Paris Salon and won numerous accolades, including gold medals at the Exposition Universelle of 1889 and 1900. His works are held in prestigious collections worldwide, including museums in Valence, Louviers, and Clermont-Ferrand. Condition: The sculpture is in excellent condition for its age, with a rich, dark patina that enhances its intricate details. Minor wear consistent with age and use, including slight rubbing on the banner, which remains securely attached. The base is stable, with no significant damage or repairs noted. Dimensions: - Height: 61.5 cm (24.2 inches) - Base Diameter: 15 cm (5.9 inches) Provenance: Acquired from a private French estate, this piece has been carefully preserved and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Shipping: Global shipping available. The sculpture will be professionally packaged to ensure safe delivery. Please contact us for a shipping quote tailored to your location. Why We Love It: This bronze is a rare opportunity to own a signed work by Adrien Étienne Gaudez, capturing a pivotal historical figure through the lens of 19th-century French artistry. Perfect for collectors of fine sculpture, historical art, or those seeking a statement piece for a sophisticated interior. Keywords: Adrien Étienne Gaudez, Joan of Arc sculpture...

Artist : René Broissand Title : Pair of Door handles « Birds » - Big size Date : circa 1970 Size: Size: 4.9 in (h) x 8.3 in (l) x 2.6 in (w) / 12.5 cm (h) x 21 cm (long) x 6.5 cm (larg) Materials and Techniques: Stainless Steel Additional Details: Stainless steel with a shiny patina, worked with a blowtorch. Comparison: the “heron” dining room table which appears in the setting of the film “Fear in the City”. We have the same pair of door handles in a smaller size. Rene Broissand biography : René Broissand (1928-2019) was a very talented decorator and artist. Born in Tunisia to French parents, he learned the trade of welder upon arriving in France. He quickly devoted himself to this material that he learned to love: metal and particularly stainless steel, preferring it to others for its malleability and resistance. He will explore all the possibilities through exchanges with numerous artists using this material. He will be particularly determined to explore all its limits in an artistic dimension. René Broissand will never stop creating. He participated in his first exhibitions in Paris from 1963 with metal artists such as César, Hiquily, Guzman and Albert Féraud. From Basel to New York, he has held exhibitions over a period of twenty years. His career has been built around the intimate relationships he has maintained with numerous entrepreneurs and personalities. Appreciated both for his sculpture and his furniture, for this fabulous international notebook composed of personalities from the world of TV, cinema and politics, he is required to respond to important orders. His polished bronze lighting fixtures...

"Galata Morente" Sculpture in Bronze and Marble F. Barbedienne Fonduer
By F. Barbedienne Foundry
Located in Ciudad Autónoma Buenos Aires, C
F. Barbedienne fonduer Ferdinand Barbedienne (6 August 1810 – 21 March 1892) was a French metalworker and manufacturer, who was well known as a bronze founder. The son of a small farmer from Calvados, he started his career as a dealer in wallpaper in Paris. In 1838 he went into partnership with Achille Collas (1795-1859), who had just invented a machine to create miniature bronze replicas of statues. Together they started a business selling miniatures of antique statues from museums all over Europe, thus democratising art and making it more accessible to households.[2] From 1843 they extended their scope by reproducing the work of living artists and also diversified by making enamelled household objects. With the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian war in 1870 the firm briefly had to switch to cannon founding owing to the shortage of metals but resumed business afterwards. Following Barbedienne's death in 1892, he was buried in the Père-Lachaise cemetery and the firm was carried on by his nephew Gustave Leblanc until 1952. Among the principal artists reproduced by the firm were Antoine Louis Barye and Auguste Rodin. The Dying Galata (Italian: Galata morente...
