Ron Arad, a British designer of Israeli origin, was born in 1951 in Tel Aviv. First trained at the Jerusalem Academy of Art, Ron Arad then studied at the Architectural Association School in London in 1973.

Ron Arad's first creations are furniture made with metal tubes and called "one-offs" because they are unique pieces. One Off is also the name of his first company.
Ron Arad became famous in the early 1970s, thanks to the creation of seats inspired by the armchairs of a Rover, seats that he found in a car junkyard.
Also among Ron Arad's best-known pieces are the Bookworm shelf from 1993 and the Tom Vac chair from 1997.
His surprising work makes him a free creator without constraints or borders who navigates between design, architecture and plastic arts.
Ron Arad uses materials such as plastic, polished steel or aluminum to create elements made of aerial scrolls. His creations with sinusoidal, elliptical or ovoid shapes range from unique pieces to industrial production, including limited series.
In 2008, the Center Pompidou presents a retrospective of his work, entitled "No Discipline". There are major and emblematic pieces of the artist, prototypes accompanied by audiovisuals, limited series and objects of industrial production as well as numerous architectural projects.
Ron Arad, whose works are exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, creates pieces for renowned houses such as Vitra, Kartell, Moroso, Artemide and Alessi.

René Broissand (1928-2019) was a very talented decorator and artist.
Born in Tunisia to French parents, he learned the trade of welder upon arriving in France. He quickly devoted himself to this material that he learned to love: metal and particularly stainless steel, preferring it to others for its malleability and resistance.
He will explore all the possibilities through exchanges with numerous artists using this material. He will be particularly determined to explore all its limits in an artistic dimension.
René Broissand will never stop creating. He participated in his first exhibitions in Paris from 1963 with metal artists such as César, Hiquily, Guzman and Albert Féraud. From Basel to New York, he has held exhibitions over a period of twenty years. Ferdinand Barbedienne (6 August 1810 – 21 March 1892) was a French metalworker and manufacturer, who was well known as a bronze founder. The son of a small farmer from Calvados, he started his career as a dealer in wallpaper in Paris. In 1838 he went into partnership with Achille Collas (1795-1859), who had just invented a machine to create miniature bronze replicas of statues. Together they started a business selling miniatures of antique statues from museums all over Europe, thus democratising art and making it more accessible to households.[2] From 1843 they extended their scope by reproducing the work of living artists and also diversified by making enamelled household objects. With the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian war in 1870 the firm briefly had to switch to cannon founding owing to the shortage of metals but resumed business afterwards. Following Barbedienne's death in 1892, he was buried in the Père-Lachaise cemetery and the firm was carried on by his nephew Gustave Leblanc until 1952. Among the principal artists reproduced by the firm were Antoine Louis Barye and Auguste Rodin.
