Vintage Bronze Pauline Bonaparteas as Venus Victrix Late 20th Century
Located in London, GB
A large vintage bronze Neoclassical Revival sculpture of Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix, by Antonio Canova, signed and dating from the late 20th Century. She is staged as a half-naked beauty on a couch, her head resting on her right arm, holding an apple in the left hand. The patinated bronze sculpture features gilt high-lights and is raised on a black marble base. It bears the replica signature of the artist, Canova. The original can be seen at the Museo e Galleria Borghese, in Rome. "Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix", (Venus Victorious), is probably the most famous work by the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova. Pauline Bonaparte, sister of the French statesman Napoleon, insisted on being portrayed as Venus by Canova in 1807. Condition: In excellent condition, please see photos for confirmation. ‘Diana the Huntress’. A Near Lifesize Statuary Marble Group
Located in Brighton, West Sussex
Alfred Boucher (French, 1850-1934), ‘Diana the Huntress’, A Near Lifesize Statuary Marble Group. Modelled nude with head turned looking to her left, striding forward holding the greyhound by its collar with her right hand and a giltwood bow in her left hand. On an integral carved base with foliage support. Signed 'A. BOUCHER' Boucher’s choice of pose is deliberately indebted to the celebrated mid-16th century painting of Diana the Huntress by an anonymous artist of the School of Fontainebleau. The painting is a mythical representation of Diane de Poitiers, the mistress of King Henry II, in the guise of the goddess Diana, who is shown nude, walking forward beside a greyhound, looking over her left shoulder and holding a bow. Another clear antecedent for Boucher’s ‘Diane the Huntress...

1930s Hand-crafted Terracotta Sicilian Sculpture of an Old Man Bust
Located in Catania, Sicilia
An Hand-crafted Terracotta Sculpture of an Old Man Bust in original patina with signs of use and age hand-cratfted in Sicily in the first half of 20th century. This terracotta of an old man bust, is a remarkable piece of art with historical and artistic significance. The portrayal of an old man bust in terracotta can convey a sense of wisdom, experience, and the passage of time. It may capture the unique characteristics and expressions of an elderly individual, reflecting the artist's ability to capture the nuances of human facial features and emotions. The original patina on the sculpture indicates the natural aging process that the terracotta has undergone over time. The patina may consist of a weathered and aged surface, resulting from exposure to environmental elements such as air, light, and moisture. This patina contributes to the sculpture's overall authenticity, character, and historical value. Signs of use and age further enhance the sculpture's historical appeal. These signs can...
