Contemporary Ceramic Alligator Sculpture, In the Manner of Christopher Buhner
Contemporary Ceramic Alligator Sculpture, In the Manner of Christopher Buhner

Contemporary Ceramic Alligator Sculpture, In the Manner of Christopher Buhner

Located in Miami, FL

Contemporary Ceramic Alligator Sculpture, Attributed to Christopher Buhner, American Studio Art Contemporary Ceramic Alligator Sculpture, In the Manner of Christopher Buhner, Whimsical Animal Sculpture attributed to Christopher Buhner A compelling contemporary ceramic sculpture depicting an alligator rendered with remarkable anatomical precision and expressive surface detail. The form captures the animal in a poised, alert stance, with carefully modeled scales, muscular structure, and a strong sense of presence that reflects a high level of studio craftsmanship. Based on stylistic analysis and comparative research, this work is possibly by or attributed to Christopher Buhner, the American sculptor widely recognized for his highly realistic animal figures. The naturalistic modeling, confident handling of texture, and overall sculptural language align closely with Buhner’s known wildlife works, though the piece is offered as attributed pending further documentation. Executed in ceramic and finished with a nuanced surface treatment that enhances depth and character, this sculpture bridges fine art and decorative sculpture, making it well suited for a curated interior, library, or collection focused on contemporary American studio art or wildlife subjects. Dimensions: 21" High × 21" Deep × 15" Wide Medium: Ceramic Condition: Very good vintage condition, wear consistent with age, materials and use. Minor loss on the toes. Strong sculptural presentation. This piece is offered as attributed, reflecting current research and stylistic comparison, and represents an engaging example of contemporary ceramic animal sculpture...

The construction of Landshut began in 1204 under the rule of Duke Ludwig of Bavaria. It was a typical Wittelsbach founding town and marked a new form of territorial politics for the Bavarian dukes. From 1231, Landshut became the residence of the Wittelsbach dynasty and the capital of the Duchy of Bavaria until 1255. Due to the division of Bavarian lands, Landshut alternated between being a capital and a residential town. The town thrived thanks to its location on the Isar River and its strategic positioning along trade routes. By the 14th century, Landshut had developed its Gothic town center, which remained largely unchanged until the 19th century. During the period from 1392 to 1503, Landshut experienced a prosperous and politically important era under the rule of the three "rich" Dukes Heinrich, Ludwig, and Georg. Landshut also gained prestige through the magnificent wedding of Duke George the Rich to the daughter of the Polish king...
