Crystalline Glaze Bud Vase Blue & Yellow, American Art Studio Pottery
Crystalline Glaze Bud Vase Blue & Yellow, American Art Studio Pottery

Crystalline Glaze Bud Vase Blue & Yellow, American Art Studio Pottery

Located in Clifton Springs, NY

The striking vintage studio pottery ceramic vase is decorated with crystalline glaze in contrasting blue and mustard yellow colors. The vase was hand thrown on a wheel; blue color crystals on ombre colored base, shifting from ligher shade of yellow on top to deep mustard yellow on the bottom, were grown in a kiln during a very long, controlled firing. Each crystalline piece is unique due to the nature of the glaze. The vase was allowed to develop an abundance of distinct, graphic crystals, creating a free-flowing abstract pattern and adding rich texture to the minimally shaped piece. The vase was made by Wizards of Clay, studio pottery in Finger Lakes region of Upstate NY. Since 1962 the family-run studio creates traditional pottery in variety of glazes. The vase is clearly signed on the bottom. Sculptural Organic Modern bud vase...

Pair of 1970s Italian Murano Glass Vases, Green Bronze Base, Seguso Vetri d'Arte

By Seguso

Located in Villaverla, IT

Pair of monumental Italian Murano glass presentation urn vases crafted during the nineteen seventies showcases classical antiquity and archaeological revival design by renowned furnace Seguso Vetri d'Arte. Handcrafted in Italy, each matching standing vessel features a wide, amphora-form glass body with a rounded conical lower bowl, broad swelling shoulders, and a wide-mouth aperture framed by an everted disc rim. Each vase is suspended within a custom-fitted tripod tripod base of verdigris-patinated wrought bronze or brass with scroll-footed cabriole legs, evoking ancient Greco-Roman ceremonial cauldrons and brazier urns. Master glassmakers at Seguso mouth-blew and assembled each glass body freehand at the furnace (a mano volante), executing the vessels in an opaque, frost-white textured glass finish reminiscent of the firm's celebrated scavo or heavy acid-etched corroso treatments. Applied around the upper perimeter are looped green glass ribbon handles and decorative hanging strap appliques (applicazioni a caldo) displaying an oxidized jade-green coloration that echoes the weathered verdigris bronze mounts below. The matte crystalline surface gently diffuses ambient lighting, casting soft ethereal glows, muted specular highlights, and bold architectural shadows across display consoles and adjacent walls. Elevate any luxury dining room sideboard, grand architectural fireplace mantel garniture, executive library credenza...
