An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet has a circular bulbous-shaped form onto a swept pedestal and circular spreading foot. The body of this impressive antique silver goblet is encompassed with a central band of chased and engraved scrolling foliate and floral decoration, incorporating swan and vase ornamentation, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates an impressive cartouche displaying the contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting between two arms embowed a sun in splendour. The cylindrical upper rim is encompassed with further scrolling leaf decoration, flanked with an applied dart decorated border to the nadir and a moulded border to the rim. The cast silver waisted pedestal features a spiralling bead design, incorporating scrolling motifs to the upper portion, replicating the details of an architectural column. The circular spreading foot is embellished with impressive cast figural mask designs alternating with layered leaf motifs, all ornamented with further bead decoration. The swept rim of the slightly weighted base is further ornamented with a leaf decorated festoon. This sterling silver goblet retains the original gilding; the gilding to the exterior of the goblet has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion. This exceptional goblet, crafted by the renowned silversmith Frederick Elkington of Elkington & Co, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. The body of this impressive antique silver goblet is composed of chased and embossed lozenge shaped convex panels, replicating the fruitlets/spikes of a pineapple, each ornamented with a quatrefoil-floral design. The decoration to the body incorporates an impressive quatrefoil shaped cartouche displaying the contemporary engraved monogram initials 'HM'. The upper rim is encompassed with an applied band of bead decoration. The waisted pedestal features a circular knop to the centre encircled with further floral motifs. The circular spreading foot is encompassed with a continuation of segmented lozenge panels, reflecting that of the body. This sterling silver goblet retains the original gilding; the gilding to the exterior of the goblet has worn with age in a sympathetic fashion. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver and cut glass claret jug has a circular, rounded bulbous form. The cylindrical neck of the jug is fitted with an impressive sterling silver, hallmarked mount embellished with impressive chased floral spray decoration on a matte background, all encompassed with a plain border accented with simple drop motifs. The decoration to the mount incorporates an oval vacant cartouche to either side. The underside of the plain spout features a simplified quatrefoil floral motif encompassed with a lozenge shaped border. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver Armada jug and stand; part of our wine and drinks related silverware collection This magnificent antique Victorian English sterling silver Armada jug has an elongated pear-shaped form onto a circular pedestal foot. The stand has an octofoil shaped form with a central swept raised circular well. The cylindrical neck of the silver jug is embellished with exceptional cast and applied floral and scrolling foliate decoration, all on a matte background; there is an exceptional shield shaped vacant cartouche to the underside of the pouring lip, surmounted with scrolling leaf mantling. The knopped neck is further ornamented with an interlacing border flanked with plain bands, to a swept portion encircled with pensile bud designs. The decoration to the body incorporates two large scrolling leaf bordered vacant cartouches, each surmounted with a coronet design embellished with floral ornamentation. Each cartouche is further embellished with a chased figural mask design to the nadir, flanked with large floral motifs. Either side of each cartouche is embellished with an exceptional cast and applied three-dimensional winged mermaid and mermen, gesturing towards the aforementioned coronet. The decoration to the body is further embellished with large scrolling leaf and floral sprays incorporating a cast and applied protruding leopard's head to the anterior portion. This magnificent antique silver Armada jug retains the original hinged cover, ornamented with chased scrolling lead decoration and surmounted with an impressive cast and applied scrolling loop finial.
