18th C Georgian Wine Drinking Glass Facet Cut Stem Hand Blown, Ca 1785

Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire

This is a very good hand-blown, English, Georgian, wine drinking glass with a facet cut stem, dating from the 18th century, circa 1785. These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour. The glass has the usual striations, inclusions and tiny bubbles you would expect to see in 18th century glass, which gives these glasses their unique charm. The glass has a round funnel bowl which sits on a good facet hand cut stem which extend into the base of the bowl, the stem having a central knop. The stem leads to a conical foot having a snapped off pontil mark to the underside, which has been ground smooth. There are no chips, cracks or any evidence of restoration. Nominal dimensions: Bowl rim diameter: 2.38 inches Foot diameter: 2.7 inches Height: 5.75 inches Overall a beautiful 18th Century English drinking glass...

Each swag is tied with a purple ribbon in an elegant bow. Green leaves and two-tone plums hang from each ribbon. The cover finial is crafted as a budding rose painted in gorgeous pinkish purple and yellow with two green leaves. The sugar box's border and cover are both adorned with a band of underglaze blue and a chain of golden ribbons and are gently lobed, which adds visual excitement as light plays over the curved surfaces. Made in England circa 1775, this sugar box is a gem! Dimensions: 5" tall x 4.5" diameter Condition: Excellent Marks: On the underside is the Worcester First Period crescent in underglaze blue (see last image). Georgian Set of SIX Masons Dinner Plates in Vase Flowers & Rocks Ptn, Ca 1818

By Mason's Ironstone

Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire

These are a fine early set of six ironstone pottery dinner plates made by the Mason's factory at Lane Delph, Staffordshire, England and beautifully decorated in the small vase, flowers and rocks pattern, fully stamped and dating to the earliest period of Mason's Ironstone production, circa 1818. This design is one of Mason's very decorative Chinoiserie patterns called "Small Vase, Flowers and Rocks" pattern, which is one of Mason's rarer patterns with very rich hand gilding and all hand painted, the detail of each plate being different. This Imari inspired pattern is illustrated on page 110 of a Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone patterns, circa 1813-1848, produced by The Mason's Collectors Club. All plates...
