Jää Armchair Made with 100% Recycled Plastic - Indoor / Outdoor Seating
Jää Armchair Made with 100% Recycled Plastic - Indoor / Outdoor Seating

Jää Armchair Made with 100% Recycled Plastic - Indoor / Outdoor Seating

By Jo Wilton and Mirka Grohn

Located in Leicester, GB

One of the latest additions to the Jää series: the Jää Armchair offers a robust seating solution for spaces such as museums and galleries or real statement pieces for the residential sector. The Finnish word jää has two meanings; ‘ice’ and ‘please stay’ - a perfect word for sustainable pieces of design. Our inspiration for the Jää furniture came initially from the beautiful and practical nature of the recycled plastic and its environmentally friendly credentials. Through the design and use of materials, we wanted to show that recycled plastic furniture can be bold, desirable, and aesthetically pleasing. The Jää furniture is made out of 100% recycled post-consumer plastic - pure waste that has been diverted from landfills. The furniture is made in Britain with a mixture of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) plastic shapes with small custom-made polished aluminium spacers and nuts. Further, the Jää designs are also fully recyclable contributing to the circular economy. The Jää pieces are sculptural, multifunctional, and adaptable designs suitable for both indoors and outdoors in public and private spaces. Handmade to order in the UK. Measures: 73 cm wide x 70 cm high x 80 cm deep. Each piece can be made to any width, please contact us for any bespoke requirements. Also shown in the images Jää Cube and Grey Screen.

Set of 2 Chair One in white by Konstantin Grcic for MAGIS

By Magis, Konstantin Grcic

Located in Brooklyn, NY

A die-cast aluminium shell made up of many small, perforated and triangular faces. Chair_One is in a certain sense built like a football, i.e. with a series of flat ele- ments joined one to the other at angles to create a three-dimensional shape. All this is achieved by exploiting the potential of die-casting which is a precise technology allowing complex three-dimensional shapes to be obtained from metal (in this case aluminium). The result is therefore a chair in which the spaces prevail over the solid parts to characterise its aesthetic quality. Chair_One has now become a classic of the future. Chairs, stools, tables and seating systems for domestic and contract use (bars and restaurants). Chair_One: legs in polished, anodised or painted aluminium; concrete base painted transparent natural or black; base and seat in die-cast aluminium treated with sputtered fluorinated titanium and painted in polyester powder. Suitable for outdoor use (painted version). Flame-retardant. Also available cushions in fabric (Kvadrat “Steelcut Trio” or “Steelcut 2”) or in leather for indoor use and cushions in polyurethane for outdoor use. Stool_One: legs in anodised aluminium or painted in polyester powder. Seat in die-cast aluminium treated with sputtered fluorinated titanium and painted in poly- ester powder. Suitable for outdoor use. Also available cushions in fabric (Kvadrat “Steelcut Trio” or “Steelcut 2”) or in leather for indoor use. Table_One_Bistrot: frame in anodised aluminium natural or black (suitable for out- door use); concrete base painted transparent natural or black; top in HPL laminate. Chair_One Public Seating System 1: concrete bases painted transparent clear, suitable for floor-fixing. Bar in anodised aluminium. Erik Gunnar Asplund Göteborg 1 Chair, Solid Ash, Mid-Century Modern

Erik Gunnar Asplund Göteborg 1 Chair For Cassina The Göteborg solid wood design chair is the conceptual representation of Rationalism by the Swedish architect who designed the furnishings for the Gothenburg Town Hall. The rounded slightly convex curves are reminiscent of the stylistic features of the Bauhaus school. This chair also echoes a tribute to the legendary Thonet chair No. 14, among the early examples of design furniture on an industrial scale. PADDING Cold processed polyurethane foam. LEGS Solid ash. UPHOLSTERY Fabric or leather. The Göteborg chair is Erik Gunnar Asplund’s poetic interpretation of Rationalist ideas. The chair was commissioned for the extension of the Town Hall in Göteborg, Sweden, whose warm, wood-panelled rooms are evoked in its ashwood frame. The curved and slightly convex profile recalls Bauhaus designs. In this case, though, Asplund keeps the back and legs the same width. We also see an homage to the historic Thonet No. 14 chair, one of the early examples of industrially manufactured furniture.
