Sectional Sofas For Sale
Curved modular Flabello sofa, design by Ugo La Pietra, 1986
Located in Misinto, IT
Breaking away from the linear pattern, yet simultaneously serving as a connector, Flabello takes center stage in the room for the creation of highly original and dynamic living zones. It's an upholstered armchair equipped with a concealed "undertrack" side table, which, once pulled out, allows it to be combined with other elements, such as two end pieces and a center unit, forming a semi-circular sofa ensemble...

Monumental Sectional Sofa Designed by Vladimir Kagan, 1970s
Located in Hamburg, PA
A monumental three-piece sectional Omnibus sofa by Vladimir Kagan, 1970s. This very large sofa would look great in any Mid-Century Modern or Contemporary home. The scale is wonderful, however, new upholstery is recommended. The lucite bases are in good condition with age-appropriate wear. A classic masterpiece! From the Complete Vladimir Kagan book...

Milo Baughman Style Red Velour Three-Piece Sectional Sofa Set by Aven Rich
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Original reddish-burgundy velvet/velour fabric has been professionally steam cleaned and looks great. No need to reupholster this vintage gem. First off, this fabric is striking. As if the Jack Lenor Larsen style material wasn’t amazing enough, the diamondesque parquet assemblage of textile is uniquely iridescent and textured, adding another layer of sexy 1970’s authenticity. Seat cushions are both channel stitched and tufted. This colossal 70’s 3-piece sectional will make you the irrefutable king or queen of cool. The loose cushions have maintained their density in both looks and support. This sofa looks like a Selig, but it's actually made by Aven Rich of Denver Colorado. Set includes (2) long "arm" sections and (1) shorter "armless" section. Comfort level on this sofa is 9.5 out of 10 (in our opinion). These separate, modular sections...

Louis Durot French Post War Artist Cowrie Shell Sofa Settee Sculpture in Polymer
Located in Atlanta, GA
A late 1970's, post modern or pop art sculptural settee sofa by French artist and scientist Louis Durot (b. 1939). - This is one of three works that I am offering through my 1stdibs storefront, HKFA. Search HKFA on 1stdibs, view my storefront and see the other two works by Louis Durot, a curvaceous blue armchair sculptural work of art / furniture and a L'Echasuffesuse red lip sofa settee sculptural work of art / furniture. - Mr. Durot describes his work, "I explore the abstraction of objects, to create art that provokes thought and curiosity." This is an oversized and stylized cowrie shell sofa settee. The settee is constructed of a polymer / polyurethane foam of Mr. Durot's creation. There is a hard 'shell' on the base that the softer polyurethane sits inside. The white surface exhibits some marks and scuffs. There are a couple small openings on the surface. I believe that this is more of a sculptural work of art rather than a functional piece of furniture - however, it really is quite comfortable. The couple very small tears in the covering allow air to escape and when seated on the cowrie shell, one sinks a bit lower than perhaps was intended. Mr. Durot holds several patents on polymers and polyurethanes. Mr. Durot was born in 1939. He and his family narrowly escaped certain death during World War II. Durot, living in hiding for many years, grew up in France. As a child in 1944 he molded toys for himself and the other children in their village from different shades of clay by the river near his home. From this beginning, Mr. Durot has been creating, sculpting and molding ever since. His school age years earned him a reputation of an 'enfant terrible' and in his own words "In my youth, I had to fight for my survival. In the village where I was hiding, we were kept in a barn with the goats and other livestock. I was very young and malnourished. And everything was a matter of strength. We had very little food, and as I was smaller than some of the other children I always got the last scraps. But when you are starving you have to fight to survive. When I grew up and started to go to school, I became unable to suffer discipline or take orders from anybody. And this is why I could never be employed. I have only been employed for six weeks in my life!" In 1960 Durot enrolled in the Facultie de Sciences to study math. It was in 1963 that Durot became interested in engineering and secured a position with Equipel. It was while employed by Equipel that he began to study organic chemistry...

Antique, New or Vintage Sectional Sofas

An antique, new or vintage sectional sofa is a versatile and practical style of seating that makes for a great addition to your living space.

A traditional sofa is typically a long upholstered seat that features a back and arms and is intended for two or more people, whereas a sectional sofa consists of multiple pieces that can be arranged in several different layouts. While a conventional couch or sofa can definitely seat a fixed number of houseguests, sectional sofas allow for customizing. We all know that maximizing your square footage in a small space can prove difficult, so the modular characteristics of sectional sofas are especially appealing when you’re thinking about design ideas for your modest-sized living room. This furnishing can be arranged in a semicircle, an L-shape or other configuration and will seat more people than a standard sofa will.

When it comes to home decor, the trick is to find a balance between functionality and style. Sectional sofas are available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colors and fabric options, so you’re sure to find one that perfectly complements your interiors and needs. But there are several factors to consider when choosing the perfect sectional sofa for your space.

According to Charleston designer Angie Hranowsky, “the most important thing to know when choosing the perfect sofa is its purpose. Is it for conversation or for watching TV and lounging? Then you can determine the right depth and seat height.”

The size of your sectional sofa will depend on how much real estate you’re working with in your living room and exactly how you use the space. If you’re trying to define a common area in your sprawling loft apartment or you’ve got a large family to think about, a large, sleek contemporary sectional or sculptural sectional sofa designed by Milo Baughman, say, could be ideal for comfort as well as a conversation piece, particularly if you intend to entertain with regularity. Think about seat height and depth — high seats, for example, can yield an air of formality that might not be a great fit for your crowd.

For movie nights, holiday parties or the occasional but totally fabulous dinner party, a large sectional sofa means getting multiple uses out of a singular piece of seating. In smaller rooms, it might make sense to position your small sectional sofa against the wall, whereas in a wide-open space, the sofa’s components can occupy the center of the room. Measure accordingly and make sure your doorways can accommodate on delivery day.

Bring comfort and class to your living space with a sectional sofa from the world’s best dealers on 1stDibs. For your mid-century modern-inspired living room, find fun spage-age sectional sofas, chic leather sectional sofas and a range of vintage mid-century sectional sofas designed by the likes of Harvey Probber, Vladimir Kagan and others.
