Zoology Print of Starfish, Sea Urchins and Sea Cucumbers by T Bromme c1865 This detailed hand-colored lithograph was published around 1865 by German geographer and scientific educator Traugott Bromme. Taken from his educational compendium *Illustrirter Hand-Atlas der Erde und der Menschheit*, this plate presents a captivating array of echinoderms, including starfish, sea urchins, brittle stars, feather stars, and sea cucumbers—marine invertebrates known for their radial symmetry and varied textures. At the center of the plate is a large sea cucumber (1), shown in profile with fine detail in its tube feet and body texture. Prominently featured are multiple starfish species (7, 8, 9), including both classic five-armed and more elaborate forms like a sunstar (12). Also included are brittle stars (10, 11), distinguishable by their slender, flexible arms. A variety of sea urchins (4, 5, 6, 17) are represented in both their natural forms and skeletal structures. The plate also includes feather stars or crinoids (3), whose delicate, feathered arms evoke the movement of aquatic flora. Additional forms such as the sea lily and other early echinoderms further illustrate the evolutionary range of this phylum. Each species is numbered and arranged with clear spacing and balance, rendered with lithographic precision and enhanced through delicate hand coloring. These prints offered 19th-century audiences both education and aesthetic pleasure, combining scientific observation with artistic presentation. This exceptional vintage lithograph is signed in the plate Le Corbusier 1963. It is beautifully mounted in a gold gilt frame and was originally purchased in a prominent Toronto gallery in 1960’s. “Born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, visionary architect and designer Le Corbusier developed new models for post-industrial urban living. He based his design philosophy on systems of proportion, modularity, and geometry; these principles infiltrated his writing, theory, and painting, as well as urban planning. Though Le Corbusier took inspiration from historical architects such as Vitruvius, Leonardo da Vinci, and Leon Battista Alberti—polymaths who similarly explored the relationship between the body and the built environment—his designs were decidedly modern and unembellished. His buildings have been erected in France, India, Japan, and beyond. As a painter, Le Corbusier co-founded the early 20th-century Purist movement, which dictated that objects should be depicted in their most pared-back forms. PRESENTING a simply beautiful, monumental and imposing original work of contemporary art, namely, a Triptych oil on canvas panels of New Orleans Colonial/French Quarter Houses. Unsigned and undated, but most definitely inspired by the World Renowned New Orleans artist, James Michalopoulos. These were not painted by Michalopoulos, but were clearly inspired by him and his famous depictions of ‘wavey’ New Orleans houses. Also, they were created and painted in New Orleans, contemporaneously to when Michalopoulos was starting to become recognized, in the New Orleans (and greater) artworld. The 3 panels work perfectly together as a visual feast and ‘connected’ work of art. The panel on the left features a wavy blue, grey and yellow, French Quarter style 2 Story Wooden house, complete with Corinthian Style Columns, decks, railings, storm shuttered windows, etc. It has a deep blue sky with shimmering light reflections. The garden to the front, has steps leading to the house and has shrubs and flowers, that are continued into the 2nd or middle/center panel. The middle or center panel incorporates the other side of the garden plants etc for continuity and it features a single story pink, yellow and white wavy French Quarter style house, with fabulous decor and complete with decks, railings, storm shuttered windows, etc. It has a deep blue sky with shimmering light reflections and a white moon, emitting swirling patterns of light. The garden to the front, has steps leading to the house and has shrubs and flowers, that are continued into the 3rd or right panel. The right panel, features a wavy light...
