About the Item
Fabulous large silk screen on foil target panel by listed British Artist Peter Gee circa 1960's which is a one of a kind color combination. The panel can be hung both vertical and horizontal. This piece was from the private collection of Gene Baro, who was a prominent art curator and huge supporter of Peter's work. He was as an organizer of special exhibitions that he truly excelled, and among much else he went on to organize one-person exhibitions, either at the Corcoran Gallery or at the Brooklyn Museum, of Hans Hofmann, Louise Nevelson, Lee Krasner, Helen Frankenthaler, Paul Jenkins, Anni Albers, David Hockney, Sol LeWitt, Richard Diebenkorn. Gene Davis, Peter Milton, Peter Gee and Eve Arnold. Two other of his pieces are also available for sale. The one close up photo is low res.
Site of art is 40 inches wide by 20.90 inches high.
Gee's posters and prints of this period were exhibited next to those of Andy Warhol and Robert Indiana at the Word and Image show in the Museum of Modern Art. His dexterity and the visual impact of his work garnered international attention on the covers of Time Magazine and Elle Decor.
Peter Gee's work is in the collection of the MOMA; Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto; the Victoria and Albert Museum in London; the Design Museum in Zurich; the Library of Congress and the Hirshhorn Museum; the Smithsonian and the National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C.
In addition to Gee's career he was active in converting and preserving many of the old loft buildings in NYC including the Puck Building in Soho.

- Condition:Wear consistent with age and use. Very good vintage condition with slight age apparent wear, plexi glass has some abrasions to the front. Two small pin points of white on black circles, perhaps from printing but does not detract from art. Great period piece of art!
