Vintage 1980s Swatch Maxi Giant Oversized Pop Art Wall Clock - Memphis Design

By Swatch

Located in St. Louis, MO

This iconic, colossal 1980s Swatch "Maxi" giant wall clock is the ultimate artifact of late 20th-century pop art culture and Memphis-style postmodern design. Originally engineered as high-impact promotional storefront displays for Swatch boutiques before becoming a holy grail for collectors, this functional giant wall clock measures an impressive 82 inches (nearly 7 feet) in length. As vibrantly documented in photos, this specific model features a quintessential '80s New Wave colorway, pairing a bold bubblegum pink strap with a rich teal-green watch head and bezel. The clock face showcases a minimalist, pixelated pink and mint-green geometric block design with stark white hands, completely capturing the digital-age aesthetic of the era. Crafted in Switzerland out of durable molded matte polymer, the clock cleverly replicates every charming detail of a classic wrist-worn Swatch watch blown up to a monumental scale—complete with the signature ribbed strap, traditional buckle, and sizing holes. The clock is fully operational, running on a reliable quartz movement that transforms a massive wall space into a bold, nostalgic conversation piece. Perfect for an eclectic living room, a design studio, or a retro-inspired lounge, this rare working Maxi Swatch...

Rare 1970s Vintage Howard Miller MCM Floating Lucite Wall Clock - Roman Numerals

By George Nelson, Howard Miller

Located in St. Louis, MO

This exceptionally rare vintage wall clock by the celebrated Howard Miller Clock Company is a phenomenal example of high-end Postmodern design. The clock features a unique, minimalist frame composed of a heavy-gauge clear Lucite (acrylic) C-shaped band. This outer ring is intentionally separated at the top and bottom, creating a striking architectural gap that frames the piece. Suspended inside the clear casing by small pins is an elegant, translucent inner dial fashioned from premium peach/copper-tinted acrylic. Rather than sitting on a surface, the clock is engineered to hang directly from its central black quartz movement housing, allowing the open Lucite frame to float weightlessly against the wall. In a bold design twist, the dial is printed with oversized, crisp white Roman numerals that appear to float mid-air, paired with sleek white hour and minute hands and a vibrant red sweeping second hand. Driven by a precision battery-operated quartz movement, this sculptural timekeeper beautifully bridges the gap between Space Age materials and 1980s Postmodern aesthetics. Can't find another example out there. Manufacturer: Howard Miller Clock Company (Zeeland, Michigan, USA) Designer Attribution: While many collectors automatically look for George Nelson when they see vintage Howard Miller lucite...

1950s Carl Auböck Stamped Austrian Leather & Brass Loop Handle Wastepaper Basket

1950s Carl Auböck Stamped Austrian Leather & Brass Loop Handle Wastepaper Basket

By Werkstätte Carl Auböck

Located in St. Louis, MO

An exceptional, rare, and highly collectible Mid-Century Modern wastepaper basket, designed by the master of Austrian "tactile modernism," Carl Auböck II (1900–1957), and hand-crafted at the prestigious Werkstätte Carl Auböck in Vienna, Austria, circa 1950s. Officially designated as Model No. 4202 in the archival Auböck workshop records, this exquisite piece features a beautifully tapered cylindrical form—measuring 7.88 inches in diameter at the top and elegantly narrowing to 5.88 inches at the bottom—meticulously hand-wrapped in a rare white/cream-toned thick double-cowhide leather. The basket features structural vertical seams bound by contrasting, robust black hand-stitching that beautifully frames the piece. Serving as the design's signature focal point is a heavy, organically sculpted teardrop-shaped cast brass/bronze loop handle mounted to the front via a leather loop sleeve. The interior reveals a rich, warm natural cognac leather lining. Distinguishing itself entirely from common modern replicas and unauthorized reproductions, this rare vintage original features the definitive workshop hallmarks. Besides the proper dimensions, the bronze handle is crisply hand-stamped "Auböck" alongside the official "Made in Austria" origin mark, providing ironclad provenance for the serious collector. A quintessential example of the Bauhaus and Wiener Werkstätte traditions that defined the Auböck workshop, this functional objet d'art showcases an incredible, authentic original patina. Offered in very good vintage condition with age-appropriate light wear and minor scuffing to the white leather exterior, this investment-grade desk accessory is a magnificent addition for discerning collectors of fine mid-century Austrian design. Carl Aubock leather bin, Werkstatte Carl Aubock basket, Austrian mid century desk accessory, Vienna modern brass handle, Bauhaus waste basket leather, Illums Bolighus Aubock, Tactile modernism object, Luxury leather paper bin, 1950s Vienna office decor, Rare white leather basket.

Michael Tatom Signed Limited Edition Bronze Stylized Leopard Sculpture
Michael Tatom Signed Limited Edition Bronze Stylized Leopard Sculpture

Michael Tatom Signed Limited Edition Bronze Stylized Leopard Sculpture

By François Pompon

Located in St. Louis, MO

An elegant and highly tactile contemporary bronze sculpture of a big cat (leopard/jaguar) by acclaimed Santa Fe artist and sculptor Michael Tatom. This piece showcases Tatom’s signature style: stripping away unnecessary detail to celebrate the animal's fluid grace, muscular arch, and elegant contours. The bronze is finished in a specialized, multi-toned spotted patina that brilliantly captures the organic rosettes of a wild feline body. This is a rare, small-scale masterwork that is rich with documentation. The sculpture is incised with the artist's signature on its tail. The underside of the paws feature complete markings, including the limited edition number 197/250 on one foot, and the initials SF NM on another, certifying its origin and casting in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Measuring a refined 3.19 inches in width, this desktop bronze has a wonderful, heavy hand-feel and serves as a sophisticated addition to any collection of contemporary Western art or wildlife sculpture. The sculpture is in pristine gallery condition, completely free of scratches, surface loss, or alterations to its original hand-applied patina. From the Estate of Joan Conway Crancer, daughter of the famous St. Louis painter Fred Conway, and was a passionate art collector, included in her collection were Calder Sculptures, Max Beckman paintings and Roman antiquities. She was actively involved with the Saint Louis Art Museum, where she served for many years as Museum Trustee and member of the Acquisition Committee, and remained Honorary Trustee for the rest of her life. Together with her husband, they endowed a gallery at the museum, named for Alice and Fred Conway, her parents. 1920s French Art Deco Bronze Nude "Scarf Dancer" Sculpture by Alexandre Kéléty

By Alexandre Kéléty

Located in St. Louis, MO

An exceptional, highly dynamic, and investment-grade French Art Deco patinated bronze figural sculpture titled "Scarf Dancer," masterfully executed by the celebrated Hungarian-born Parisian artist Alexandre Kéléty (1874–1940), circa 1925. Captured flawlessly in the accompanying photos, this iconic interwar composition perfectly embodies the kinetic energy, fluid rhythm, and avant-garde glamour of the Jazz Age. Cast in solid bronze, the athletic female figure is depicted poised mid-performance, balancing beautifully on a textured, rock-like incline that serves as the integrated bronze base. She holds aloft a deeply draped, wind-swept scarf that sweeps forward in a dramatic, fluid arc, serving as a brilliant architectural counterweight that creates magnificent sculptural tension. This specific example boasts an incredibly fine, crisp casting, retaining sharp, pristine delineation in the facial features, musculature, fingers, and the deep, precise folds of the drapery. The piece features a rich, warm golden-brown original living patina that beautifully highlights the sophisticated modeling. The work features Kéléty's incised script signature embedded directly into the bronze, accompanied by a crisp, early cast sequence or edition number "8" to the right. Additionally, it is authentically stamped "FRANCE" on the reverse side, a definitive mark of a genuine, early 20th-century lifetime foundry casting produced for the upscale international export market. Offered in excellent vintage condition with minor, age-appropriate surface wear, this signature Parisian Art Deco sculpture stands as a museum-worthy statement addition for discerning collectors. 1960s Brutalist Hand-Forged Metal Still Life Flower Sculpture by Bob Schmitz

By Curtis Jeré, Marc Weinstein

Located in St. Louis, MO

This exceptional 1960s Brutalist still life sculpture is a masterful testament to mid-century studio craft, presenting a powerful interplay of industrial raw metalwork and organic botanical form. As beautifully captured in photos, this piece is meticulously hand-forged, showcasing an array of highly stylized flowers, spiky starburst flora, and textured wheat-like stalks rising elegantly from a faceted, geometric iron vase. Each blossom is intricately constructed with individual layered metal petals, jagged cut edges, and torch-cut brazed brass accents at the centers that catch the light, adding a brilliant flash of warmth to the dark, moodier iron patina. For critical collector provenance, this important mid-century work is signed "Bob Schmitz" in a striking gold script on the reverse side of the vase. Vase is 6.75"h x 6.25" x 6.25" Embodying the rebellious, texture-heavy spirit of the Brutalist art movement, this hand-forged sculpture celebrates raw construction with its exposed welds, torch-hewn edges, and multi-toned oxidation. Cleverly engineered for both stability and customizable display, the heavy metal flower rods are held securely in place by a dense sand filling on the inside of the vase, allowing the dramatic bouquet to maintain its striking arrangement. The faceted exterior features beautifully visible seams and a mottled, fire-kissed surface patina that transitions seamlessly from dark charcoal tones to deep copper hues, accented by the artist's gold signature. A commanding and deeply textural decorative statement, this mid-century studio sculpture by Bob Schmitz makes an incredible centerpiece for a Brutalist or mid-century modern interior. Born in Illinois, Bob Schmitz was a skilled Midwestern craftsman who learned the intricacies of welding and traditional metalworking directly from his grandfather, a professional blacksmith. He eventually took over his family's historic forge, successfully transitioning the traditional shop into specialized, custom fabrication and independent studio design. Operating in the true spirit of the mid-century American Studio Craft movement, Schmitz hand-forged, torch-cut, and built his pieces individually by hand rather than relying on mass factory production. This meticulous, bench-work approach explains the highly customized, one-of-a-kind engineering seen in his work, such as using a dense sand filling inside the vase to balance and secure the heavy metal flower rods. Active during the 1960s and 1970s boom in torch-cut metal art, Schmitz utilized heavy, industrial materials like iron, brass, and copper to create dramatic, highly textured interpretations of nature. Because he was a dedicated regional craftsman who prioritized individual studio artistry over large-scale commercial gallery contracts, surviving examples of his large-scale sculptural work remain exceptionally rare to find on the open market today.
