Ken earned his M.F.A. in 1957 from the University of Oregon following duty in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. Ken was an Artist-in-Residence at the Oregon Ceramic Studio from 1957 to 1964. From 1968 to 1995, Ken established and built the art department's new ceramics facility at Lewis & Clark College in Portland.
