Circa 1900 Art Nouveau advertising poster for Fumar el papel JOB
Located in PARIS, FR
This circa 1900 Art Nouveau advertising poster, designed by Peruvian-born artist Daniel Hernández, is a stunning example of early 20th-century luxury brand marketing. Created for JOB cigarette rolling papers, the advertisement reflects the era’s elegant aesthetics and sophisticated lifestyle appeal. The slogan, "Fumar el papel JOB o dejar de fumar" ("Smoke JOB paper or stop smoking"), emphasizes the brand’s prestige and superior quality, making it seem indispensable for tobacco connoisseurs. The artwork features a sensual and dreamlike composition, characteristic of the Belle Époque. A radiant red-haired woman, partially draped in sheer fabric, lounges in a relaxed pose, smiling seductively as she delicately holds a lit cigarette. The soft pastels, golden hues, and fluid lines create a warm, ethereal atmosphere, reinforcing the romantic and luxurious associations of the JOB brand. The swirling wisps of smoke, artistically integrated into the design, echo the organic, flowing forms typical of Art Nouveau illustration. The ornate green decorative border further enhances the visual richness, framing the central figure like a jewel in an exquisite setting. At the turn of the century, tobacco advertising was at its peak, and brands relied on opulent, aspirational imagery to captivate consumers. JOB, a French rolling paper company founded in the 1830s, became known for collaborating with renowned artists to create highly collectible posters. This particular piece, executed with remarkable softness and luminosity, reflects Hernández’s mastery of portraiture and classical technique, which he refined during his studies in Europe. His ability to capture the sensuality and grace of the female form made him a sought-after artist for both fine art and commercial illustration. Beyond its commercial function, this poster is an important example of the fusion between fine art and advertising, a defining feature of Art Nouveau poster design. It demonstrates how companies in the early 20th century elevated advertising into an art form, commissioning celebrated painters to craft exquisite promotional imagery. Today, original JOB posters...

1932 original bullfighting poster by Ruano Llopis - San Sebastian
Located in PARIS, FR
This stunning 1932 original bullfighting poster by the celebrated Spanish painter Carlos Ruano Llopis (1878–1950) was created for the summer season (Verano de 1932) at the new Plaza de Toros of San Sebastián. Known for his evocative, elegant depictions of Spanish cultural life, Ruano Llopis here captures the grandeur and festivity of the corrida. The composition foregrounds a poised woman in an orange dress with a traditional black embroidered shawl, seated serenely amid blooming roses as matadors prepare in the background. Her confident gaze draws the viewer into the scene, evoking the atmosphere of Spanish bullrings and the rituals surrounding them. The typography announces “Seis Grandes Corridas de Toros, de Abono”, listing star matadors of the time such as Vicente Barrera, José Mejías (Bienvenida), and Domingo Ortega. Ruano Llopis, a master of costumbrismo and bullfighting art, created numerous posters that became icons of Spanish visual culture. His rich painterly style blends realism and theatricality, immortalising flamenco dancers, toreros, and spectators with expressive brushwork and luminous colour. This large-format poster remains an evocative testament to Spain’s golden age of tauromachia and to Ruano Llopis’s artistry. It is ideal for collectors of vintage Spanish posters...

American Anhinga - Snake Bird /// John James Audubon Ornithology Natural History
Located in Saint Augustine, FL
Artist: John James Audubon (American, 1785-1851) Title: "American Anhinga - Snake Bird" (Plate 420, No. 84) Portfolio: The Birds of America, First Royal Octavo Edition Year: 1840-1844 Medium: Original Hand-Colored Lithograph on wove paper Limited edition: approx. 1,200 Printer: John T. Bowen, Philadelphia, PA Publisher: John James Audubon and J.B. Chevalier, New York, NY and Philadelphia, PA Sheet size: 10" x 6.69" Image size: 6.63" x 4.63" Condition: Minor toning to sheet and some faint discoloration in margins. Old glue staining along right binding edge as normal. It is otherwise in very good condition with strong colors Notes: Provenance: private collection - Cleveland, OH. Lithography and hand-coloring by American artist John T. Bowen (1801-c.1856). Comes from Audubon's famous seven volume portfolio "The Birds of America", First Royal Octavo Edition (1840-1844), which consists of 500 hand-colored lithographs. The preceding 1836 Havell edition of this work has a different title: "Black-bellied Darter", (Plate: CCCXVI - 396, No. 64). Based on a drawing inscribed "New Orleans 1822 - redrawn ... 1836". This conspicuous bird had various names including "water turkey" and "Bec à Lancette". The Anhinga, sometimes called snakebird, darter, American darter, or water turkey, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. The word anhinga comes from a'ñinga in the Brazilian Tupi language and means "devil bird" or "snake bird". To make 'The Birds of America' more affordable and widely available, in 1839 John James Audubon began the first octavo edition, a smaller version of the folio which was printed and hand-colored by J. T. Bowen in Philadelphia. Employing a new invention, the camera lucida, the images were reduced in size, rendered in intermediate drawings by John James Audubon and his son John Woodhouse, and then drawn onto lithographic stones. These miniatures exhibit a remarkable amount of attention to quality and detail, as well as a meticulous fidelity to the larger works. Some compositional changes were made in order to accommodate the smaller format. Like the Havell edition, John James Audubon’s first...
