Nina Bovasso Mixed Media

American, b. 1965
Nina Bovasso was Born and raised in NYC, NY, where she currently lives & works. Her work is held in many museum permanent collections in the United States, and other public & private collections in the US and abroad. Ms. Bovasso attended NYC Public School and was raised by a single working mom who worked as a textile designer. Living in the Murray Hill neighborhood of NYC, close by her grandmother who taught her to sew and design clothes. Both of Ms. Bovasso's parents were painters, who met while students at The Cooper Union School of Art in NYC. Ms. Bovasso received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, attended the Skowhegan School of Art in Maine, & completed a MFA in Painting from Bard College. Predominantly a maker of works on paper, " I was influenced by her mother who was a textile designer, creating designs with gouache on paper. My attempt at making designs whilst a student at SFAI, played a huge role in defining my own voice as an artist. Using gouache on paper to make these designs, one day breaking free of the limitations prescribed for design making, I started doing my own thing. This “breaking free” I feel, also plays a role in the content of my work, when I speak of anti-design or pattern gone amok.” Bovasso's work has been exhibited internationally, solo exhibitions include Josee Bienvenu Gallery in NYC, Sala Uno in Rome, Cleveland MOCA, Ohio, University Museum at SUNY Albany, New York; Galerie Schmela, Dusseldorf, Galerie Diana Stigter, Amsterdam, and Clementine Gallery, New York, NY. Group exhibitions include Out of Site, NewMuseum of Contemporary Art, NYC and Painters and Poets, Ulrich Museum, Wichita, KS. She is the recipient of several awards and grants, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, Louis Comfort Tiffany Artist Grant, New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, and twice recipient from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. In 2012 she was awarded a MacDowell Colony Fellowship. Her work has been reviewed and collected widely in the US and abroad. Bovasso held temporary academic appointments at the University of Georgia, California College of Art, University of Virginia, and University of Tennessee, and presented lectures about her work at numerous universities, including Princeton University, Northwestern University and the Cornell.

And At Noon I Will Fall In Love - Framed Colorful Abstract Art
By Raul de la Torre
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Barcelona native artist Raul de la Torre's vibrant abstract mixed media artworks pay homage to textiles. De La Torre allows the materials to take over during the process and collaborates with the unexpected to create works that speak to the natures of dynamism and unity. Experimentation with different materials, textures, and techniques in each of his paintings has been a point of discovery and a major part of Raul de la Torre’s work. In his Fils I Colors series he attempts to find the third dimension through the use of different materials. This colorful 15-inch high by 12-inch wide original artwork on canvas is framed in a natural wood frame. It is wired and ready to hang. Size and price include frame. It is signed, dated, and titled by the artist on the back. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. This artwork is part of de la Torre's Brooklyn Series, which he describes as, "inspired by Brooklyn: the people, the art, the colors, the textures, the poetry." The interaction between the artist, gravity, and the paint is important for the final result. A tilting technique permits the paint to be a major architect of the final result, giving it a life of its own. It results in infinite and timeless color combinations. In many cases, the different layers of color each represent a temporary state of mind, time, and even feelings, places and people. Some of them are embroidered forever in our memory turning to form part of our DNA. To represent the firmness and strength of that past the cotton is mixed with the paint in the works to form a unity. Embroidery provides another layer as it creates thick shadows with organic shapes. De la Torre makes horizontal cuts on the canvas and covers these open areas using color matching cotton thread. When combined with light, these shapes create a more dynamic surface and offer different views of the work to various observers. Raul de la Torre was born in Barcelona in 1964 and attended Massana Art School. About the Fils series, de la Torre remarks: “FILS I COLORS is an attempt to find life, movement and parts that are not static, that change in their interaction with the observer. The different combinations of colors represent different emotions and interpretations for each individual interacting with the works.” Raul de la Torre's artworks can be found in the collections of The Four Seasons Abu Dhabi, the Tropicana Hotel and Casino Las Vegas, the Rothschild Family Collection, and varying Hilton properties. His works have been exhibited and collected worldwide. Artspace Warehouse has been representing and exhibiting Raul de la Torre's original artworks since 2010. “PRLS-1000” contemporary abstract collage, mixed media, purple, blue, multi
Located in Signal Mountain, TN
"PRLS-1000" is part of Eric Mack's urban grid series. Using a grid to create the framework of the painting, Mack creates movement across the piece with dynamic techniques of washy underpainting underneath matted pieces of paper, and thread. His paintings have been described as "intellect on top of emotion." Eric Mack (b.1976, Charleston) creates mathematically based renderings with a distinct post-modern twist. Works are informed with super imposed grids, patterns, and portals. Layered surfaces are created with paint, found objects, natural fibers, and synthetic substrates that explore the systems of our visual world. His most recent show “Charting the Terrain” is on view now at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles was covered by the Los Angeles Times, KCRW, and LALA Magazine. His last solo exhibition was titled "Impossible Architectures" at The University of North Carolina...
